i enjoy science, evidence, and conclusions in a work of fiction. i enjoy deciphering the evidence as it's presented, along with the characters in the book. i try to guess what will be relevant, what won't, and who will be the first to reach the correct conclusion, the AH-HA moment.
scenarios... an ecological habitat threatened due to negligence or greed, such as drilling for oil in alaska's wilderness.. a moneymaking scheme gone awry, such as the misguided attempt to tow icebergs to where man needs them most (HA!) a media campaign designed to discredit climate change that unknowingly reaches the wrong (rather, RIGHT!) conclusions, and struggles with how to present them to the powers that be.... RIVETING!
happy writing :)

Back in The Day, in Rod Serling's old series The Twilight Zone, there was an episode about a guy who built a fallout shelter for himself and his family. At his birthday party, all their friends are mocking him and his shelter, when an air raid warning of a nuclear attack is given. He and his family retire to the shelter. Minutes later, all their friends are at the door with fire axes and sledgehammers trying to break in. They finally succeed, and just then the word comes that it was a false alarm.
This is the kind of interpersonal interaction we'll see. Wars will be fought, not only over petroleum, but over batteries, whatever machines still work, like the few steam engines that are still around, water wheels, etc. All these will be non-renewable resources, because no more can be made. There will be a series of transfers of power from one group to another, based on control of those resources. In time, all those things will be gone. If there are survivors, it will be those who have mastered skills and technology that is renewable. People who know how to make a fire without matches, hunt with a bow and arrow, make a bow and arrow, that sort of thing. I doubt if it will end like the Twilight Zone episode, but for those preparing now, it could end with a life such as Native Americans led before the White Man came to the America's.

I'd like to see a tragic Utopian story where Earth is basically inhospitable to human existence, except for those who saw it coming and were prepared. The story would revolve around a community of borderline mad scientists who design mutagen weapons aimed at rapid evolution of human Life and make those who are subject to the elements mutate in a way that will help them survive. Example: They infect all the people living in the coastal regions with a mutation that makes them grow gills so they can inhabit the submerged cities. --Possibilities are endless and could be very satirical.
I don't know....
Good Luck :)

i do no longer think of you have got any difficulty convincing them that the Indian Ocean could be iced over after 2 hundred years of a dim sunlight. do no longer forget approximately that maximum human beings believed Day After the following day whilst they observed it. If I have been you, i'd nonetheless attempt to make the technology sound as precise as achieveable although. to no longer the point that an authority in climatology would agree, yet adequate that somebody with a minimum of effortless math and technology qualifications can understand and settle for it. Take Crichton as an suggestion. His thoughts are many times thoroughly incredible, like Timeline, yet they have in basic terms adequate rationalization in the back of them that maximum human beings settle for them and circulate on with the tale. and that i'd incredibly use my mind's eye for the end results of a dim sunlight, do no longer basically end with temperature. What would take place to human well being without adequate UV easy to synthesize diet D? If photosynthesis is decreased, would a undeniable plant have an earnings and finally end up dominating the land? What if, via the three hundred and sixty 5 days 2200, the electrical powered energy grid is practically totally image voltaic. How would a dim sunlight influence that? returned, those do no longer could be strictly precise techniques, in basic terms creative and conceivable adequate that somebody without actual awareness of the subject would think of that they *could* be actual. And, on a facet word, in case your humorousness is of the style which you "love" that variety of over the suited and lazy sarcasm from guy bear pig, then i'd recommend you do no longer placed too lots expectation on the humor on your e book.

People changing their way of thinking, cooperating with each other, realistic description of natural disasters not only in rich counties, but on the poor ones, because there such disasters leave deeper scars(like the floods in South East Asia, the heat wave in East Europe, the extreme cold of -50 in some of the northern parts of Russia, the situation in Africa).

The antithesis of Crichton's 'State of Fear' - in other words, something remotely realistic.
I'd like to see a story where a decent US president is elected and he leads the charge to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. At first his popularity decreases as Republicans call him a liberal tree-hugging hippie, but then we're hit by a series of extreme weather events. The worst hurrican season in US history, extended droughts in much of the US and floods in other parts, etc. Suddenly most people realize that global warming is the real deal and support the president's efforts to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.
The world follows our example, and we succeed in reducing worldwide emissions by 80% by the year 2050, thus avoiding the worst consequences of global warming. A happy ending.
