Your concerns with your career are dominating your thinking.
But our purpose is to seek God and come to know God. We find God where ever we find love. We are commanded to love our neighbors and there we will find God. We can't love our neighbors unless we come to know them. Look at your future vocation at least partially as a vehicle to come to know people. Every day ask God to reveal Himself through the people you meet and help.

It has to be in His timing. I know that sounds really hard to take. We (as in Americans) are so used to having a microwave we want answers like yesterday.(At least do sometimes lol) The best advice I can give is to keep praying; He'll show you in His time.
I know with me, He has revealed a little piece of the puzzle at a time. And the more I get into the Word and pray, the more He reveals to me.
God bless you, I hope you get the answer you're looking for.

Coming about a specific and complete purpose in life is extremely hard. My two run hand in hand with each other. My first part is to follow Jesus. Such as helping out at my church praying daily many, many times and reading the bible. And most of all to not contain it to myself but to tell my friends by my words and actions of the amazing things of GOD. To go along with this is to love everyone which is hard. Loving not just your friends but also your enemies is a really, really hard concept for me, but once i got ahold of the idea it lowered alot of stress and alot of drama. Coming about this came from probably my 7th grade Sunday school teachers. There powerful words and purpose in life , being a follower of God, struck out to me and gave me hope and faith that i too could be like them.

I think this life we have here or more to the point, the time we have here is our opportunity to get to know God in a very personal way. When Jesus was asked what is the most important commandment, He said, Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, sole and strength. And the second is like it, love your neighbour as yourself. Jesus had a job to do while here on Earth. He was leading all who would listen to God the Father. He was crucified so we could go free even though He was pure and innocent and we are full of sin. We are not here to beat the bad guys to get into heaven! We are here to invite the bad guys to join the family of God as well as anyone else who wants to know the way! God wants to know you and he wants a very true and deep relationship with you. He wants you to learn to rely on Him and trust Him. As you go through through your life, put Him first always and you will begin to understand that He has your best interests in mind. He will guide you and teach you and the more you grow that relationship with Him, the deeper and more rewarding your life will become. Once you have a relationship with Him, death no longer has a hold over us. While we may shed this physical body in death, we enter spiritually into His rest and spend eternity with Him. This is our prize.

"Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?" Jesus answered him, " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and most important commandment. The second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as you love yourself ." Matthew 22:36-39
