you (the guest) or your person that is turning 30?

I have a friend that is turning 30 and for her birthday she wants to take a ''stripper poll'' dancing class which costs about $300.00 and she expects her 3 friends that are going to pay for it and cover her cost? tacky or not.

P.S. I don't think that I am going. LOL
Tell me what you think?

That is very tacky. If the person wants to take the class, she should cover her own costs. The 3 friends should cover their own costs as well. Unless the 3 friends OFFER to cover the woman's cost, as a gift, she should expect nothing of the sort.

If someone chooses to throw any kind of party, they should pay for it themselves. It is one thing to ask friends to bring a small contribution like a bottle of something or some food for a buffet if the party is taking place at one's home, but to expect friends to make a financial contribution as large as that is not only tacky, it is taking advantage. What kind of friend is she to have the nerve to ask for that anyhow?
You are right, and if she drops you as a friend because you do not want to go, she will be no great loss.

Umm....really tacky. Throw yourself a party and don't certainly expect anyone to pay especially something this expensive and unusual. Your friend is wrong. Don't go.

It's tacky because one does not make or demand friends pay for one's birthday gift. I won't go either.

Tacky! It's just not polite to expect presents from anyone and it's certainly not polite to insist, which is what this amounts to. I would politely decline to attend.

If that's the party, then she should pay for it. If you didn't get her a gift yet, it might be nice to give her some money, but not 100 dollars.

Hmmm... doesn't sound like a real friend to me... just some selfish bi*tch trying to get something for free.

Maybe you should pay for some etiquette classes for her instead of stripping.
