If you *define* a soul as consciousness, then yes, I agree that we have a soul. However, that is not the religious definition of a soul, which I do not subscribe to.

Do you understand what the soul actually is? I find most modern people have no clue. The concept of soul is taken from Aristotle. All living creatures have a soul according to his teaching. All the soul is is the animating principle, that is, life.
As for being conscious of ourselves, why are we any different than any other organism? How do you know your dog isn't conscious of himself?

Why not just say that in you language, science, it's the awareness. In our awareness we see something more than electro magnetic waves possibly. We could probably prove it either way for ourselves and they have not tried yet and might reach a different conclusion anyway. It's like the unified field theory. There may be one or not One says I have it, another, no I do, so they argue on and on. Actually most of those arguments on other topics I can see how their both partly right and partly wrong. I also see how if they bot together instead of being so macho an reasoned together, for all the talk of reason, they would advance science. The unified field theory in religion is if we work together we could make a wonderful world so lets reason together.

If our conscious is our souls, then we got souls, but just because we have a conscious doesn't mean we have souls...sorry.

Because we're intelligent beings. If being conscious of ourselves means we have a soul, we're no better off than a sick maggot. He's also conscious of being.

If a dog doesn't have one, as is almost always claimed, why do they feel conscious.
Consciousness is just electrical and chemical reactions. There is no evidence that it is anything else. And there is no evidence of anything called a "soul." It is just something that you guys made up.

No, because you have failed to prove that a soul is necessary for consciousness. It's like saying that if there's no Tooth Fairy, why are there weasels? No connection.
