why do so many people in this country think a war is based on a timetable? Is it a failure because its not over in your eyes as fast as you think it should be?At least Bush isnt worried about his poll numbers like Clinton who did nothing

"Win" and "loss" are meaningless terms.

We cannot "win" in Iraq any more than we can "lose" in Iraq -- we're the REFEREE, we're not one of the sides.

To be able to "win", we need to have a goal, something measurable and objective. Until someone can define what we are trying to accomplish, it's meaningless to talk about "winning".

If the little girl cries out "The Emperor has no clothes" it's not her fault for seeing what the others are too brainwashed and cowardly to see. That this "war" is unwinnable is not an unreasonable conjecture. All we're doing is creating more recruits for Al Queda, in Iraq of all places, where Al Queda didn't have a base of operations before we started this trillion dollar deficit of a war on political partisan grounds. Al Queda had their bases in Afghanistan, which we bombed back into the Stone Age after 9/11 and then left dangling in the wind so that the Taliban could sneak back in and take hostages. I tire of the apologists for Bush the Bungler.

uh, so we should never face reality? Smart! and what kind of ****** would keep our troops in an unwinnable war where they cannot even fight? If this war were fought correctly, we would be in and out. This war is just lasting too long, and there are not enough results. It is costing too much and the people are against it.

We need to look HONESTLY at how we are doing, and to just remain optimistic all of the time is not doing anybody a favor. It is only hurting us.

Can't win another country's Civil War. We can instigate it but not win it.

Bush and his idiot regime is the one who painted us into a corner. They thought it was going to be a peace of cake (Mission Accomplished) going in and wiping out those Arabs. Little did they understand what happens when the enemy melts into the civilian population. The only way out of our corner now is to jump for the door and hope we don't make too big of a mess getting out.

The war is really won in Iraq. The US kicked Saddam's butt and they hung him. They didn't have WMD's, so that is a sort of success, I suppose, if you want to count winning a point against an opponent that doesn't exist.

As anyone who knows anything about history and the history of warfare, the peace is just as hard, if not harder, to win than the war is.

What exactly were you in to win? What did we exactly have to lose in Iraq? Nothing. We had no reason to even go in in the first place.

No matter what the situation it " IS NOT, NOR WILL IT EVER" be the senate majority leaders right or responsability to declare that America has lost anything.

It is nothing more than disgraceful and it is Aiding and comforting the enemy.

It is lost. Desperate Bush appointees giving weapons and pallets of american dollars to Militia and Tribal Chiefs, who will turn on us in a minute, just so they can convince the FOX Newsies that the "Surge " is working.

The situation in Iraq is worse than Vietnam was at any time while our troops were there.

What kind of ******* send troops to battle field without plan, shortened training, without proper gears, with vastly smaller troops than recommended? Oh yea Bush.

What kind of ****** force troop to extend tour duties, cut short home stay, deny quality health care? Oh yea Bush again.

What kind of ****** create Iraq mess and blame it on liberal democrats?

Bush created this huge mess and he's going to retire long before this problem is solved. If that's not cut and run I don't know what is.

Let's see. Democrat's 'comment' is more dangerous than Bush sending in troops without any plan whatsoever? More dangerous than sending in overly fatigued troops? Is that right?

they give aid and comfort to those trying to kill us....yup'...let's elect them again! no, wait....

why not try them for sedition...the whole lot of liberal left who don't care that they make the terrorists happy every time they open their mouth....

who don't care that there are people trying to kill us...

don't care that the US may have a big fat target on it...hell! they help paint the outline....

the hard left of this country are an anti-american continuum...from the stalinist communist party of the 30's...gus hall and company...to the red diaper kids of the 50's...children of the rosenberg generation who grew up to be the anti war movement of the 60's and early 70's....the pseudo revolutionary's....hell they are part of the mainstream now....

and call themselves democrats....
