If the person who dies is a true child of God, they are immediately carried away in their soul existance by angels to heaven:
And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; - Luke 16:22.
On the other hand, if someone dies without the LORD Jesus Christ as their Saviour, they go to a place of silence called Hades, until they awaken to the judgement of God on the last day:
The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence. - Psalm 115:17.
And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. - Revelation 20:11-13.

People will enter Heaven where God will be waiting for you with the Book of Life. It is a recording of everything you ever did in your life. God looks in it and tells you whether you are worthy to pass through the Golden Gates to heaven, or be thrown into the fiery pits of hell.

THIS: is a GRAVE subject: by law: all perish.
THAT: none perish: by GRACE: is far better.
Joel 2:3 & 1Thess 5:3 seem to picture THIS for them:
Deadly OT Law <---- No Escape ---> Deadly NT Law
1Thess 5:9 & James 3:17 seem to picture THAT for us:
Firstly Pure Grace <---- Escape ---> Eternally Grace Us
The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

"Where do bad folks go when they die
They don't go to heaven where the angels fly
Go to a lake of fire and fry
see them again 'till the Fourth of July
I knew a lady who came from Duluth
Bitten by a dog with a rabid tooth
She went to her grave just a little too soon
Flew and lay down on the yellow moon
Where do bad folks go when they die
They don't go to heaven where the angels fly
Go to a lake of fire and fry
see them again 'till the Fourth of July
People cry and people moan
Look for a dry place to call their home
Try to find some place to rest their bones
While the angels and the devils try to make 'em their own
Where do bad folks go when they die
They don't go to heaven where the angels fly
Go to a lake of fire and fry
see them again 'till the Fourth of July"

Usually the corpse is disposed of, one way or another. Whatever's left is up for grabs in a tug-of-war between non-existance and heaven/hell.
Except for those who don't fit the molds.

They don't go anywhere. They cease to exist except in the minds of those who knew them and think of them. I do not believe in an afterlife. This is it; make the best of it.

You go back to the earth. That is where everything comes from. You will be reborn as something, sometime, somewhere. Death should be celebrated for it is part of the journey of life.

Depends what you believe. I believe that when you die, that is the end. No afterlife. So when you are buried....that's it.

Depends... are they cremated and put into a jar, put into a coffin, or just left out to rot?
