If you are in a bar/restaurant where smoking is still allowed, you might have a bit of a problem. Also, if everyone is in the smoking area, you might cause some hard feelings.
However, if people are being rude when they smoke around you, I do think you have the right to speak up. I am a smoker and cannot stand when people blow smoke in my face. I will try to move to another location or I will ask them if they can blow the smoke the other way.
Smokers get a bad rap because of the few very rude and ignorant smokers out there. But all of us are not like that. We are willing to treat non-smokers with respect because we want that same respect.

It depends on what the smoking policy is. It also depends on if you knew that this was a smoking establishment when you hired on. Smokers have rights too believe it or not. I personally find it very rude if I am in a smoking establishment and a non smoker asks me to put out my cigarette, While I am a polite smoker and I will ask if my smoke is bothering someone next to me and then put it out if it is I would take offense if someone demanded that I put it out. For example when I am in a casino smoking is allowed if I go to a machine and someone is at the neighboring machine before me I will ask that person if it will bother them if I smoke,. If it will I won't smoke or I will move to a different machine. Now If I am at the machine first and then someone comes along to the machine next to me and they take offense to my smoking I will not cater to them. I was there first therefore they can move if it is bothering them.

If I were you, I would look around for another job...if the majority smoke,,then they are going to come down on you like a ton of bricks,,,if you keep asking them to put their cigarettes out....You would be in your right, but if you do, don't expect them to love you for it....those smokers can get really upset....I know...I live with one.....not that I'm an angel...I smoked for a few years myself,, so I know.....they have an addition and they will defend it....so find another place to work.

If it is not a smoke free area, then yes it is rude...
If they are smoking in an area where smoking is prohibited, then it is not rude.
If they are smoking in your office without asking your permission, that is also rude.
Two wrongs don't make a right!

"Having a bit of a problem" and "being rude" are two totally different issues.

If your outdoors, or in a smoking section then yes, it is rude.
We had a broad at a place I worked at once that used to always go into the smokers lounge on breaks and then do nothing but whine about the smoke.
You could always do what the anti-smoking nazi's have done...whine until your local government caters to the minority by taking away the rights of smokers.

Even in the days when more people were smokers, it was always proper etiquette for the person who's lighting up to ask, "May I smoke?"
If it was proper etiquette in 1957, then it's even more so in 2007 when more people are non-smokers.
So, no, it's not rude to ask them not to smoke around you. It is rude for them to smoke without asking permission.

If smoking is permitted at your workplace, than you will simply have to stand away from the others while they smoke. If you are the only non-smoker it is unlikely they will stop smoking to accommodate you, so you can either stand away from them while they do this or if it bothers you ( makes you sneeze, eyes water etc ) you should look into finding other employment.

Are they allowed to smoke anywhere or do they have to go to a certain area? Most places today have areas that smoking just isn't allowed. You can't ask them not to smoke around you if they are in a place that allows it.

Do they smoke in work or is there some smoking area that they are smoking in? If they are in the smoking area then it would probably be best for you to stay away from that area.

It depends on where you work.....if it is a restaurant or bar, then yes. Also, If you are in a public place that allows smoking or in a smoking area....then yes I would say that it is rude. Best place is to work where there is no smoking allowed.
