If you would buy your children a separate tent, then you can treat your dog with the same standard. When I was young, the family dog always slept with me and protected me from threats, real or imagined. Other people kennel their dog, like Mitt Romney traveled, on the top of their car. I have seen people with a well-behaved dog trained to occupy its own tent without even a chain or leash in a remote dispersed camp. That is a dog that is the exception, not common. However, if you purchase a dog tent, then train your dog with its use at home. That way, the dog will understand it as normal for occupation at night. Another possibility to provide shelter for your dog without sharing the bed is using a vestibule, screen room, or multiple-room tent for dog occupancy.

Picassogone beat me on this one. Her suggestion is the best by far. A waterproof moisture barrier is vital to sleep comfortably and most importantly dry. I have friends who used plastic sheeting as a vapor barrier and every time they moved it "crunched" keeping all of us awake. It would take it a step further and buy yourself a piece of sleeping bag foam to go under your sleeping bag or sheets. If you aren't using a sleeping bag and just sheets buy yourself a decent air mattress to keep you up off the ground, and on top of Picassosgone's recommended tent floor cover. Happy camping!

Just have a good inflatable mattress. And I do mean good!

Other than that, leave a slight part of the flap open on a window or door to let your breath moisture out.

you might be using a too warm sleeping bag or as suggested you may need to vent your tent better.

We just take our polyester quilts with us. They dry easier than shiny sleeping bags.
