It's like I say to everyone who asks this question. Your not drunk if you drink. Your drunk if you drink too much.

Hope That Helps!
BTW: Jesus drank Wine what's the difference? And if anybody says it didn't have alcohol they are lying. Because it says he drank wine not grape juice.

In the Bible, it tells you to have self restraint when it comes to things of this nature. It tells you that you shouldn't alter your mind so you don't know what you are doing or saying.
It is okay to drink. To many reformed Churches say it is so EVIL, but it is not. They don't understand that God is not against drinking, he is against Drunkenness, and addiction.
They would be hypocrites to say that drinking will lead you to hell, because if that were true Jesus would have lead all those wedding patrons to hell, not Heaven. And no, he did not give them grape juice like some in the reformed church believes. Also, some reformed churches give out grape juice as their communion! That is terrible, bastardizing the Holy Sacrament which states drink (wine) for this is my blood etc. I am a Lutheran, formerly a Christian Assembly member.
If one wants to preach that drinking is bad, it is if you are a drunkard, alcoholic, underage (since you'd be breaking a law), or drink to the point that you talk foolishly and act foolishly.

Catholics and Lutherans believe that drinking is okay as long as you do it responsibly, and do not become addicted.

I'm not sure why the church would have a problem with the occasional drink (I know that some do, but I really don't know why). The Bible only says that believers should not get drunk (which can lead to sin) and not cause a brother to stumble (offer beer to a recovering alcoholic). Also, people should submit to the governing authorities (don't give alcohol to minors if it's illegal in your country or drive under the influence). Other than that, I don't see any immorality in drinking responsibly.

There are denominations of the Christian faith who believe that it is OK to drink, just as you say. If Jesus were against drinking alcoholic beverages all together he would not have turned water into wine. Some denominations hold that hard liquor (scotch, vodka, gin, etc.) should not be consumed but wine is OK. Others claim that all alcohol is bad. It depends what you believe and what set of beliefs you want to follow. I'm sure you will get folks in your answer who will site there beliefs as "gospel". You'll have a chance to read those.

I do not believe he turned water into wine, I believe he changed the way people thought about things. They were still drinking water but because Jesus changed their perception the water became as good as wine. The problem with alcohol is that people can not control their usage. Most can not stop at 1 or 2 drinks, that is just the way it is. I drink though because I admit I am a sinner. I left my beer in the freezer, thanks for reminding me.

you must be baptist.
Red wine is very beneficial and helps detoxify the blood and clean out negative cholesterol from your heart. There are several other benefits too. Also, I do not recall Jesus saying you can not drink wine anywhere in the bible, now maybe Paul had issues with it, but Jesus did not. So go enjoy your glass of wine and relax. It will be ok.

You just answered your own question. Ther probably isn't anything wrong with a drink a day or something of wine. The problem is that not everyone can deal with that. Some can't control themselves. This is a law given by God for the weakest of Saints but we all must follow the Lord's commandments. For those of us for whom it wouln't be a problem, it gives us an oppourtunity to learn self-control and sacrifice. (Self control being the first attribute of a disciple of Jesus Christ according to Peter.)

Remember that the Bible is your guideline for living and not what people say. We are told in the Word, not to be drunk. The people in the church fear that many will misinterpret this. In many churches, communion is served using wine rather that grape juice. Many priests drink wine at wedding receptions and in Catholicism, this is not considered wrong.

My church doesn't teach against drinking wine. Wine, beer and/or champagne is sometimes served at our church fundraisers and other functions, and of course, we use Communion wine. Drinking alcohol isn't a sin, unless it's done to the point that it begins harming both others and yourself. An occasional glass of wine isn't going to do that.

as far as I know, I don't think that it is a bad thing or a sin to have a drink or two. Going out and getting drunk is another thing. The bible does talk about that. I mean, the traditional communion was bread and wine, right?
