Christians, why do you believe in the Bible even though there is no proof that any of it is true.?

I mean really, the only proof that you have that what it says is true is that it says it's true. If I wrote a book and said that God told me that 10,000 years ago the world was ruled by magical unicorns? No, you probably say that I was lying and had no proof. So then, why do you believe that the Bible is the truth even though the only proof that it's right is that it says it's right.

I do not know how to explain this. For eons people thought that The Iliad was just part of mythology, then someone found the ruins of Troy. (1870)

I think the Holy Bible opens our minds to possibilities and a different way of looking at the world. I'm not saying that there is a right and a wrong way of perceiving things, but I'm not always trusting of my own 5 senses.

Some people just can't comprehend the things of God. If God said it then I believe it! I'd rather believe then not to believe because it would be a terrible thing to wake up one day and to find out that you was wrong. There is plenty of proof in God's word. So much has already come to past because we are living it everyday. What if God would send a bad ice storm your way and it freezes up everything around you and you can't operate as usual. And darkness would come upon the earth, everything that God has provided for us to survive off of would just be unfuntionable? And this type of situation would last for a long period of time. What would you do? And someone is in trouble in a life and death situation and they can't drive due to icy roads? Who will you call on? Regardless of the negative talk, I bet many unbelievers will all of a sudden seek mercy and forgiveness. All of a sudden many will try to find a bible even if they have to borrow one from a Bible believing, God fearing neighbor. At the blink of God's eye he could shake up this world and turn it
up side down if he want to, "but" because he is a merciful
God and his word has to be fulfilled until the end time takes it's course he will tolerate a lot of foolishness. The time is already set. There is proof but you have to seek God's face.

How do you think the universe came to be?

I think Tom had the best answer...the Bible was written by men,and as we all know they can sometimes stretch the truth or write rumors handed down from word of mouth and I don't believe everything the bible says is the word of God.But yes historically alot of the big things in the Bible are fact...There was a man named Jesus crucified...so ..I have to believe that he was the son of God.

Well... you can buy this or not but I know it's true because when I agreed with what Christ taught and accepted who he is my heart and mind changed and everything that the Bible teaches and reveals is alingned with that change. I know God is real and have seen certain evidence of it over and over again in my life.
There is no contradiction when your accept that there can only be one truth and that God is all that he says he is, and that his promises are true as well. They have never failed in my life, and that is the most valuable and wonderful thing that I have ever experienced.
No unicorns, that is your theory (for arguments sake), and the next guy has one too, but you are not finding meaning and answers, and life, in them.
Once God is first and we do not make ourselves the most important thing anymore we find life. The Bible is God revealed to us.

Ok, I can understand people having problems with Adam & Eve, Dinosaurs, Evolution, Noah, Jonah, Jesus' miracles etc. I think a lot of Christians do as well. The other way of looking at it is. Someone or something created what we see and can't see(like most of the Universe). We were created by him and rather than being robots and automatons, we were given freewill. He eventually gave us his Word(the Bible) to show us how we should live our lives if we are to receive eternal life.
So that part makes sense to me. There is a lot of stuff that isn't explainable or comprehensible but that doesn't stop me from believing.

You my friend are misinformed. There are many historical writings (secular) that confirm many parts of the Bible. I would challenge you to read the Bible, become Truly knowledgeable as to its content, and then return to this with your questions. I suggest that you start with the gospel of John.
