Because if you study religion you would see that the first organised church was a religious marriage of church and state, that married pagan religions that worshipped the Sun and the Moon with the worship of the Bible as the Son being the Sun and the Moon as being Mother Mary, so that all the Holidays were traditions passed down from long before Jesus Christ was born, the first organised church married the belief systems together so that the pagans would stop killing Christians. All of this was done under a Non-Christian Leader Constantine, who was the emperor of the Roman Empire to unite his kingdom because he was going into an important battle for him and had a dream that if he painted crosses on his shields they would win the battle, which he did and they did win the battle so he sided for Christians over this fact. Also Easter and birthday parties are against the teaching of the Bible but men follow the traditions of men not the Bible; Mark 7:8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
Many Christians believe it is OK to take another mediator besides Jesus Christ such as the Apostles, but the Bible says; 1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
And yet the worship the Sun and the Moon and the stars as the Son of God, Mary the Mother of Jesus, and the stars as the apostles, these were the gods of heaven to the pagans, Mercury(god of knowledge and wisdom), Venus(goddess of love and fertility), Mars ( the god of war) and all the planets were named after these gods also, but the church changed the names to Peter Paul, and Mary. It truely is amazing how nothing changes;Jeremiah 44:25 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying; Ye and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with your hand, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her: ye will surely accomplish your vows, and surely perform your vows.
Romans 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

maybe the most likely time is october, maybe it's not. it could have been in march. it's really not important. christmas, just like easter, is celebrated when it is because the roman empire wanted to do away with a pagan holiday (i guess it's called saturnalia... ya learn somethin' new everyday). the bible tells us in romans 14:5 that we're free to choose which days we celebrate as holidays, so it's up in the air.
as far as ''blotting out saturnalia'' goes, i wouldn't think too many people know exactly what ''saturnalia'' is. if it wouldn't have been used in context, i probably would have thought it was a province in some eastern european country, or some kind of disease. lol. that being said, there's no real motivation to blot it out. if you wanted to be technical about it, you could always type ''the war on christmas'' in your search engine and do some research. it's considered politically incorrect to say ''merry christmas'' these days. we're supposed to say ''happy holidays.'' if saturnalia is a holiday, it's included in that greeting, along with channukah, kwaanza, and whatever other holidays are celebrated at that time of year.

properly the Church have tried annoying adequate to locate the evidences appropriate to the start of Jesus. And the Church needless to say reported that we do could celebrated Jesus' born day as a holy social gathering, so there comes the twenty 5th December. Idk how they did the date, yet needless to say it is not from a sometime questioning or so, it incredibly is from an prolonged learn and clearly an extremely careful selection from the previous Pope. because it incredibly is to be certain the start of the Son of God.

The way Christianity converted the masses of "pagans" was to take their festivals and holidays and make them about Christian Saints and the like. Christmas would have been a celebration of winter solstice.

I asked the same question of a Methodist Minister, and of a Catholic priest, both confirmed that they knew Jesus was born in October towards the end of the Month.
BUT the PEOPLE just LOVED Christmas, so why ruin a tradition .
As much as it Angers you a true Pagan, it also angers me a true Christian, after all a lie is a lie!!!!!!!!!!!!

In half the world, the southern hemisphere, they celebrate Christmas in summer. No-one knows when Christ was born so if you want to celebrate his birth, the solstice festival is as good time as any to do it. Everyone's already in party mood.

Jesus' birthday should be celebrated all year round, really. But if we're going to pick one day to celebrate it, we don't really care whether or not it's the exact day he was born. As long as we celebrate it, that's all that matters. We've been doing it in December for centuries, now...no point in changing it.

Because if we didn't think it was appropriate we wouldn't! But we are not sure when he was born but this is the time closest to when that we could find! And if God didn't want us (The Christians) to celebrate His son's birth in December we would know because He would tell us some how and then we wouldn't!
