sometimes it's called petite squash...it's white ....kinda flat...scalloped edges...kinda looks like a flying saucer...lol...

Chop it in half, head to toe, and remove the seeds.

Place it, cut side down, on a sheet of aluminum foil that's sitting on a half-sheet cake pan, or a heavy cookie sheet.

Bake at 350F for an hour or so. If you're not sure it's done, give it another 20 minutes. Even an hour of overcooking is NOT going to cause any major problems.

Salt and serve with butter. The skin isn't worth eating, but the contents surely are! Some people like to add brown sugar or marshmallow; I think that's too sweet, and that it ruins the squash, but it used to be a free country, and when it comes to squash, perhaps it still is.

Sliced and dipped in tempura batter, deep fried.
1/2 cup flour
2 Tbl. cornstarch
1/4 cup water
add water and mix untill you have a thick batter
Fry at 375 deg. untill golden
