That just about everytime a man or woman cheats on their significant other, alcohol seems to be involved?

I've lost count of the people who have come on here to confess and said: "We were drinking."

Is it possible we could eliminate infidelity by simply doing away with beer, wine, etc?

No, alcohol just takes the edge off the inevitable. If something is going to happen with the spirits it will happen in a dry county too.

There are just as many who cheat while completely sober, fully aware of their actions. The only difference is that most of those who are sober when they cheat never confess to it, to anyone.

If we try to get rid of alcohol by making it illegal, nothing will change. People will still make, sell, and buy it, just not in the open for everyone to see. The same with drugs. The drug industry is booming because it is illegal. Put laws out there banning something and the price will just go up, meaning that the people involved in making and distributing it will make more money, therefore more people are tempted by it and the industry grows. If anything, the laws against drugs only made the problem worse. The same will happen with alcohol.

People will cheat on their significant others with or without alcohol. It's part of human nature, not the result of intoxication.

Its not possible. People use liquor as an excuse
to make it seem that they had no control. Majority of
the times its a lie. The "professional" drinkers know what
the hell they're doing. Now the ones tha get tipsy on
one drink...they are the ones that you have to look out
for. I for one can't NEVER use that excuse. lol

No, although that would be a simple solution. Its like the prohibition..people cannot and will not give up alcohol even if it is the base root for many, many basic problems in life.

If they really cared about their S.O. , would they be putting themselves in that position in the first place? It's a choice of responsibility, and if they chose to ignore the possibility of temptation, they are also chosing to throw away their current relationship.
