LOL. Few cops ever went to law school. It's either a two year tech degree, 2 years of college, and a 10 week cop course, or a State Trooper Academy boot camp. Varies by state. Tech degree is best way to go(police science).

Figure out which department you want to work for and talk with someone in the Recruiting office and get some guidance on what will help you get a job with them.
I worked with several civilians who never took any kind of courses but after working in the department, decided to become officers. They still had to take the police exam and score high enough to get in the class, plus their background checks had to be updated but their experience and knowledge of the department was very beneficial to them when they became officers so that was a plus and in their favor.

Thre are zillions of cops on the job with no more than a high school education. Most depts. don't even require any college credits to enter the police academy.

Yes, you can.
A college degree is very helpful when applying to become a police officer, however. You can major in criminal justice without going to law school.
Best of luck to you.

You go to law school to become an attorney, not to become a police officer -- for that, you'll do well to research Peace Officer Training or Police Training for your state -- in Ohio, the training is called the OPTA (Ohio Peace Training Academy) and lasts just a few weeks. . . not literally a few. . . probably somewhere around 8 or 10 . . . but definitely a few, in comparison to becoming an attorney.

standards to grow to be a police officer selection finding on the police branch. so a strategies as training is going, some police departments in basic terms require applicants to have a minimum of a severe college degree or ged, some police departments require applicants to have a minimum of a definite quantity of faculty credit (30 or 60 case in point) or a 2 twelve months degree, and a few police departments require applicants to have a minimum of a 4 twelve months degree.

Yep, most cops have never been near a school but why would you wana be a cop for, are you power hungry, want some kick backs or just wana kick heads in?
Sometimes I wonder who the criminals are the cops wearing badges or the crims wearing hoods.

Sure. Just sign up. It's a lot like the Military. Let the court's worry about the legal end of it...that's what they get paid the big bucks for! The Police just do the initial paperwork for the court systems to wade through!
