The lowest I've ever seen a English Bulldog was $1,200.00. Do you think that is too expensive?

that is an average price however after looking for 2 yeaars I got mine for $700
They have to be artificially inseminated and tehn tehy need a c-section this is very expensive for the breeder.
Funny a Yorkie cost about teh same but no reason as tehy are usually free breeders and welpers.

No, it's not. They are English Bulldog Rescues, if you want to try those also petfinder.com. The reason English Bulldogs are so expensive is because it's not an easy dog to breed. Most of the time it's done by "AI" Artificial Insemination, then the dam (mother) needs to have a C-section birth. The cost of a Bulldog doesn't end with buying a puppy, it an expensive dog to own as well. Hope that helps. All the best;~)

for an EB? No.. English Bulldogs are difficult to breed.. they often need artificial insemination.. which costs $$, and doesnt always take. Because of the large front end, and narrow back end, females often need cecarians to give birth, which can cost $1000 and up. Im not sure of the average size litter, but its probably around 4 pups. English bulldogs also have a lot of health issues.

My dad just bought an english bulldog, and they are expensive. Not just to buy, but to tkae care of. They have a lot of breathing problems and surgery cost about $1000, my dad got it for his dog, and it worked great. Sometimes they have skin issues, which can cost alot of money. The price of the puppies are expensive because sometimes the mom has to have a c-section.

Kit Kat is right about the English Bulldogs, but incorrect about Yorkies.

Because of their tiny size, Yorkies often need Caesarian sections to give birth. Litter size is generally small, I've never known of one larger than four, and birth defects are common.

My Yorkie had to have a C-section, and still died from complications of giving birth. She had three pups, one of which, the largest, was still-born. After Cricket died three days later, we had to hand raise the two surviving pups, and at six-weeks, we had to have one put down due to birth defects.

Additionally Yorkies are generally not very maternal and make rather poor mothers.

So basically, Yorkies and English Bulldogs share many traits, but not the size.

That's about as low as they go. Part of the reason the dogs are so expensive as compared to some other breeds is because breeding is not easy nor cheap. Many puppies must be delivered via C-section b/c their heads are too big for the birth canal. I assume this is a costly procedure, and I'm sure there are probably many visits to the vet to monitor the pregnancy as well.

IMHO, dogs should cost 3x as much they do now.
Due to certain health issues, the cost of breeding bulldogs is higher than with other dogs.
