I want to give my husband a surprise overseas trip as a birthday gift but he doesn't have a passport..can he use his military i.d. card as a passport eventhough it's for leisure?? & the place is in Asia..we were currently stationed here in Okinawa..

I believe you still need a passport. If you are taking a MAC flight contact AMC at Kadena.

NO. No longer can servicemembers travel on just an ID and orders., they MUST have a passport. this is for his safety. several years ago, a plane was hijacked with servicemembers on board. they were singled out and killed because they did not have passports, only US military IDs which made them a prime target for the hijackers.

Military IDs do not replace passports any more. I tried.

He will need a passport unless he is travel ling on military orders.

for personal travel, he needs a passport

I believe his Military ID is is Passport. I may be wrong but it's what I used

no he can not. military use to be able to use their id for travel but not anymore.
