Sure you can just make certain you format the drive.

If Microsoft ask just state that you have made signifcant hardware changes.

Hope this helps.

You won't have purchase another copy of Windows, but chances are you will have to activate Windows again.

Normally you can do any of these upgrades without reactivation even necessary, as long as it is done over a long enough period of time. As I understand it, it works on a point system. Upgraded hardware is worth points. The points are based on what the hardware is. Say memory is worth 5 points, a HD worth 10, and maybe a MB worth 15. Too many points within a certain period of time and you have to activate Windows again. When your computer was new, Windows was activated and took a snapshot of your computer hardware as it was. Upgrades in small increments are fine, say adding memory. Maybe adding a hew hard drive a month later, no problem. But, try to add too much hardware to fast (such as you are doing now) and Windows sees it as a different computer and needs to be activated. Worst case scenario is you'll have to call Microsoft and explain the situation to get a new activation code.

You can use your existing windows software. At most, after you install windows, and try to activate it, you will have to call microsoft tech support, the computer will generate the number for you to call, and have them give you some numbers to punch in. Your hard drive has NOTHING to do with it, you purchased that licensed copy of windows when you bought the computer. You can put it on ANY computer you want, as long as it is only on one computer.
