(O.O)

Most people I've known who fit that description are usually trying to avoid any need to feel compassion.

How many times have you heard "people have it worse than you"?

Well, how bad to I have to get before I get the help they're getting? Do I take a number? Wait in line? Is starvation worse than cancer? Leukemia worse than having your family wiped out by a tornado? Is there a government office that ranks these things so people can say "there are people worse off than you?"

People have all sorts of reasons for showing deep down inside they're heartless b@stards who don't care about anyone and are looking for excuses to hide the fact.

What say you?

I don't know that many heartless b@stards. I know a lot of people who try to hide their own hurts behind a wall of anger or trying not to care about others. People with too much heart broken too soon and not enough healing who are hiding out -- yes, definitely. But truly heartless people, no, not very many.

And I don't think there is such a thing as a sliding scale of pain or problems. Everybody's suffering and troubles are as important to them as mine is to me. Some people have the capacity carved into them by their own pain to empathize with others and reach out to help. Some people take the opposite tact and let their suffering harden them to the point where they can't or won't let any more pain ever hurt them. Like the saying goes, "Some people use their pain to build walls and some use it to build bridges."

Which brings us back to the heartless b@stards again.

The reasons I have for not extending myself have to do with self preservation. They are extreme and often unjustified but too much of my life and my being has gone for someone elses needs and uses. That end of the spectrum is too destructive to the self. I haven't found a good balance yet, but that doesn't mean that I am heartless.

I don't know. Maybe they are simply at a loss. Perhaps they even feel guilt for being healthy. In a study done on twins where one gets cancer and the other remains healthy, the healthy one always expects to soon get cancer, even though it never materializes.
People are funny things.
If you are suffering this horrible affliction, I hope that you are soon freed of it. The burden of fear must be great.

I'm not one at all.
I am loving. I try to help and to understand others.
I do not hold hatred in my heart for any certain group of people.

However.....

What's your excuse? Revenge?

Hatred for all Christians? Self-pity?
Everyone has suffered a loss. Everyone has lost someone they adored. We move on. We accept it.
We take comfort in the fact that we will see our loved ones again in Heaven, if we are saved. I KNOW I will see my mother, father, twin, and my dear relatives again.

Feel better soon, friend. I pray that you will find help.

Hi,
Looks like you learned the word bastard today and you are trying to use it in a sentence. Orion, sometimes your switch is in the off position, or you are off your meds. Either way, you get no respect from me today.... just an answer to tell you so. If the pic you present is actually you, then I'd say grow up both spiritually and mentally, because you are operating below your age level.

Actually, people say "there are people worse off than you" as a way of taking your attention away from your poor situation, instead of saying "oh dear, you have it worse than anyone else who has ever lived, your life must be so terrible, poor you". My opinion anyway.

In my past I tried my damndest to be that guy that helped everyone. I was that guy that would give the shirt off my back. Now Hell no. Screw everyone else. When I was down and out NOT ONE person offered me help. I was homeless and desperate, and nothing. Now if you are not my family, suck me hard! I help no one.

Far too many people are simply selfish, self centered money worshippers.
