I think I have an idea that may appeal to many on the R&S forum: we atheists should pool our resources and colonize Mars – and let the religionists have Earth. I’m NOT being funny – there are a number of serious proposals based on sound science for colonizing and “terraforming” our nearest planetary neighbor to make it habitable for human life – plus we can always adapt ourselves to a less-than perfectly terrestrial environment through the use of "genemods". Yes, it will be very expensive and take many years, but consider that it took a while for colonists from across the pond to settle the Americas. The technology is within our grasp - we just have to make it happen. I see this as a “win-win” for everyone. Any comments?

Count me in. Here's our new motto.

The meek shall inherit the earth, the rest of us are going to the stars.

Well, now, this is interesting. That's how earth came to be. It was terraformed by the "gods", visiting aliens. Now, here we are about to do that very thing and yet, we scoff and say it couldn't have happened in the past?

Yeah I've already thought of that. I would love living under a system that was founded on logic rather than mythology.

Grotty Bodkin you are to be commended for your sense of irony. Left Behind.. LOL I like it.

Well, there's a distinct possibility that we all came from Martian origins. Why not "go home" in due course?

The simplest and perhaps least controversial of the "Exogenesis" ideas.

I'm sorry but Mars is named after a false God. For atheists to move there would be as bad as having to use money that says, "In God We Trust".

How about Pluto. That's named after a Disney character.

I don't think the technology is in our grasp, at least not in our lifetime.

It's cheaper to just wait for them to all be raptured away. Just as realistic, too.
