Return address (your address) goes in the top left corner. In the middle of the envelope (centered left/right and top/bottom) is the recipient's address (who you're sending it to) in slightly bigger text.
Top right is where the stamp goes.

No doubt you're going to get a lot of stick from the idiots that plague the Answers Community, so well done for being honest about not knowing what to put on an envelope.
The address goes in the middle one line at a time, followed by the country (if sending overseas) and zip/postal code on the same line. The stamp goes in the upper-right corner. If it is a large envelope you may need to use more than one stamp. You'll need to ask at your post office about that.

Put your name and address all the way in the upper left hand corner on the front of the envelope, or on the back on the envelope at the top. This way, if the letter can't be delivered for any reason, the post office knows who to return it to.
Put the postage stamp in the upper right hand corner on the front of the envelope.
Put the name and address of the person or company you're sending the letter to in the middle of the front of the envelope. Be sure to write neatly and include the postal or zip code.

Left top corner is YOUR address. You can include your name or not. Actually, you could just leave the left top corner blank if you don't want the person you're writing to to mail you back.
In the middle is the RECEIVER'S address. Required. Put his/her name above the address.
Top right, the stamp. Required. Make sure you've paid enough.
It would be a lot easier if you looked at another piece of mail and copied the format.

Wow. Okay, well...
In the center of the Envelope is the information of the person you are sending a letter to.
Full Name
Building No. & Street name
City, State Zip
In the left hand corner, should be your info in the same format. So here's an example:
John Doe
1235 Dover Lane
Albany, New York 5042
