Yes, the Holy Spirit is as real as you and I, he is here to guide you, get into the word and learn of him, when you are prompted in your spirit to speak in tongues..do so..It is talking to God without the devil involved...the HS knows what you need and how to speak what your words and heart cannot..he will show you the truths in the word that most people dont see, (rightly dividing the word) you are now a living spirit that can know all of the things in the light. By learning of God and sharing his love, wisdom and mercy you gain these things yourself. You will know the HS is there when you help people and if you listen to the small still voice in your heart he will guide you and keep you and teach you. Dont listen to people who dont understand...they cant possibly judge the situation and cannot understand a light when they themselves are in darkness. A good way to understand the HS is to look up all the scriptures with him in it and see how he works. You cant put it on here without being attacked by smaller minds...that dont understand but forgive them, they know not what they do. The HS teaches you to see into peoples hearts and walk in love. One of the main feelings he uses with me is peace, I ask if I am supposed to do whatever and if I feel a peace about it I know it is of God..it is pretty accurate. Ask the Holy Ghost to teach you of God and dont neccessarly look for the spactacular...but lessons come in everyday life in almost any situation...as long as you are walking in love...he can teach you...my suggestion to you is to learn what words really say..get a Vines Concordanace and learn the meanings behind the Greek, Aramic and Hebrew words that we take for granted everyday...such as blessed means empowered to prosper or luck-goes back to the word lucifer and means empowered to fail...it is important to learn the power of your words and the HS will teach you this...dont ask non believers to help you they dont understand...some great sites to go to learn the uncomprimised word of God is below....Blessings.

Technically you received the baptism in the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit did give you new life when you were born again but this experience which has been evidenced by speaking in tongues is a distinct experience in which God has endued you with power for service. I received this experience 33 years ago. The Holy Spirit will lead you as to what you should do next. He plans to use you in various manifestations of his grace and power. These gifts will become evident to you and others over time. You will find great joy and have a wonderful fellowship with God as you serve him in the ways the Spirit empowers you to. This is just the beginning.
--edit--
This paste from an answer I recently gave might help you:
In the book of Acts we see that the early believers did see the baptism in the Holy Spirit as distinct and subsequent to the new birth. The Acts 2 experience comes after the John 20 experience. Acts 8:4-25 clearly shows that this Baptism is not automatically received at the very beginning since we are told saved and baptized believers still had to have the apostles pray for them to receive the Spirit. In this passage we are also given a hint that there was some kind of evidence that satisfied everyone that the believers had received this Spirit baptism (an empowering for service [Lk 24:49] as opposed to the new life given by the Spirit at the new birth). The early Christians apparently knew when someone did not have the Spirit and when someone did. This must have been an objective rather than subjective test. When the Spirit was poured out at Cornelius house the brothers who went there knew the new believers had been baptized with the Spirit "FOR they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God" (Acts 4:26). A lot more could be said about this but it seems clear that the early Christians saw the supernatural gift of tongues as evidence that the Holy Spirit had been given.

I have the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues too!
I'm so happy for you--having received the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of Speaking in Tongues is AWESOME. Keep praying and ask God to bring you more mature believers who can disciple you.
Keep reading the word of God, praying and asking questions of other believers--over time you will mature in your understanding of these things--there are a lot of wonderful answers already given.

Yes i have, just go about your daily business, pray and ask God for His guidance. This guide is the Holy Spirit and He will direct you path. You just continue to trust God, let the Holy Spirit worry about what comes next because you will know.
Besides you should be praying and asking God what's next, not this forum. Anyway, whenever The Holy Spirit wants me to do something there are certain things that happen to me. Maybe you have been experiencing these or something different but you will know i promise.
1. I might have a burden for doing it- this desire does not happen gradually it just comes on.
2. Someone else that is not aware of how you feel might confirm it, by directly telling you to do as God ask etc.
3. I receive it in a dream and then the feeling does not go away.
4. when i am uncertain i ask God for a sign or fast and pray about it. The answer usually comes in varied forms
God bless

If you truly believe that you have received the gift of the Holy Spirit, learn the rules. I don't mean the rules as interpreted by Paul / Saul. First of all, recognize that the greatest of all gifts is the gift of Agape / Spiritual love / Charity, and that none of the other gifts, according to scripture, hold a candle to it. (Even Paul knew that)
I have deliberately avoided any reference that was sponsored by any denomination, so that you could begin your research free of my preconceptions or your own. If you have the gift of speaking in tounges, then I am sure that you understand that when that speech is uttered, it is supposed to be interpreted by a deacon or elder of the congregation, unless it is used for the edification and enlightenment of a member who needs direct spiritual guidance. (Very rare) Most speaking in tounges done in the modern church is nothing more than spiritual baby talk. If you are speaking in tounges and do not understand what you are saying, and no one in the congregation interprets for you, who is to say that you are worshiping? The difference in the speaking of tounges to the holy spirit and the speaking in tounges to Mammon, is that the speaking of tounges to the Holy Spirit is always done for the edification and enlightenment of the church and congregation, and never left to doubt. This is a serious matter and should never be practiced or attempted by any but the most mature and well grounded of believers.

congratz.... that is a beautiful gift and feeling.... just keep living your life the best way you know how... the holy spirit does not dwell in unclean vesselz... therefore you have tried to live your life to the best of your ablilty. speaking in tongues is evidence of having the holy spirit, and the holy spirit gives you power. it just means that you are a more powerful christian, and you have more added strength to endure this life.
just remember that you are still on earth... life is the same for you as it is for everyone else... some pple think that bad things cannot happen to them becauz they have God... but the way i look at it is.... We as christians go throught the same thing as everyone else, the only difference however, is that we have God and the holy spirit to help us make better choices and decisions to help us through this life.
just continue to grow spiritually by reading your bible and going to church... again congratz....
and for people who dont understand... please dont make jokes... its a dangerouz thing to joke around about the holy spirit... the holy spirit or holy ghost is a gift from God.... to give us power, strength and endurance while here in this world.

I'm with ya. That's great news! Here's something from the Book of Jude before continuing.
Jud 1:20-21 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, (21) Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
What to do next probably depends on what you're doing now. Do you have a church to attend? If so, are you part of an outreach program? Do you talk to others about how to get saved? You might look into ways to held build up the faith of other believers as well by singing in a choir or cooking a meal for someone that needs it. There are lots of ways to get involved in works for God. The Bible says that he that winneth souls is wise. (Applies to "she's", too.) Look to God so that He can guide you.
Here's another good verse for you: James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
Maybe you have an opportunity to visit someone. There's lots to do. I have made it a point to get involved in my church and have had the blessing of multiple opportunities to serve God in different ways. It is very awesome and spiritually rewarding.

I saw quite a few getting at on "holy spirit day" at a Bible camp type thing.
I guess most of them joined up with the church that they got it at.
Just try to act as you think Christ would approve of, and maybe join a talking in tongues club.

Oh, how exciting. I speak in tongues and I love it. I speak in tongues all the time to myself and I speak especially when praying. Tongues is the Holy Spirit speaking the will of God through you. You will also be able to give tongues in church also and have an interpretation. You are moving into a whole new realm of spiritual warfare. It is a wonderful and precious gift from God, He loves you.

You don't have to do anything. The presence of the Holy Spirit has nothing to do with tongues. Anyone can speak in tongues Christian or not.
