I've got a new LCD TV hooked up to a DVD Player via component cables. Everytime I watch a movie and there's an explosion scene or flashes of lightning, the TV goes to black screen and displys AV2 Component on the top right corner of the TV. Does anyone know how I can prevent it from happening again?

I have a Sharp LD-23SH1U and a Toshiba model I bought back in 2003.

That should never happen. The TV loses sync with the player!
You may need to call support for your TV (while it is under warranty), but if possible, check it with another player as well.

Yes. Do not watch such violent, dangerous shows.
