Two-fold answer:

1) While alive physically we are dead spiritually. When we believe in Jesus we are made alive spiritually. So though dead, we are made alive.

2) When we die physically we will live on spiritually. So though dead, we live.

We are dead to Christ when we do not believe in Him, but when we accept Him as our savior; (believe, He is the Son of God and died on the cross for our sins and arose again) then we are alive. If we do not believe in Jesus we are dead to Him, because we have not yet ask Him into our hearts to be our personal savior. Yet( if we ask Him to be our savior) we shall live ( have eternal life with Him). In the Old Testament the word body sometimes refers to corpse. "In the New Testament believers in Christ may put to death the deeds of the body and present their bodies as a Holy sacrifice which pleases God (Rom, 12:1)." "Complete salvation and full humanity begin not at death, but at the return of Christ, only then do believers receive their eternal resurrection bodies (1Cor, 15:35-49)."

You probably lost somebody close to you in death. Now if this person died believing that Jesus is real, then he or she will come back to life and live forever, never to die again. This will happen when Jesus comes back to earth to get His people. All of His followers, alive or dead, will rise up into the air and join Him.

If you want to see loved ones again after this life, you should follow Jesus and encourage them to do the same, or else after they die you have no hope of ever seeing them again.

Painful, but it's the truth.

He who believes in him, that he is the Savior and the son of God.Though he be dead,Means if your not saved then you are not a child of God and aren`t recognized by God.Yet shall he live.he will be born again a new creature in Christ.Meaning that salvation turns you into a new soul all sins forgiven and you become a babe in Christ. From that point on God knows you as his child.

Yes. It means that if you believe in Jesus Christ and accept Him into your heart as your Saviour, then even when you die, you will be raised from the dead and live forever in Heaven, as opposed to be awakened from the dead only to be sent to hell for an eternity of separation from God.

Yes humanity is born dead in sin, and we also die physically, these words mean that if we accept Jesus as Lord, even though we are "dead" in trespasses and sin, and we will be dead physically one day, our souls will LIVE.

It means that if you believe in Christ and accept Him as your savior, even though you will die in this life, you will be resurrected into the most perfect version of your body later, when He returns, and you will live forever in a peaceful, perfect world.
