I have never "worried my fat" delving into deep philosophical speculation about "the meaning of life". I've just got on with it, being who I am, trying to live like a halfway decent human being, living by the rules of society which, to me, are for the most part, logical, reasonable, rational, and lend themselves to the maintenance of the general good order.
I treat others as I myself wish to be treated, and indeed, I think that one expression pretty much covers it. Everything else is just commentary.
I am liked and trusted by those who know me, life runs pretty smooth, and I don't waste any of the precious little of it there is, regretting what I don't have that might have been nice to have. There are plenty of people who have been more fortunate in life than me....... but I never have to remind myself that there are millions who are infinitely less fortunate. That's life, and this happens to be my particular little spot in the scheme of things. I leave it at that, and get on about the business of the day.

No one can give real meaning to their life.

Real meaning comes from living for a real purpose/reason. A real purpose answers the question of "why was I put on this earth" or "what am I meant to do with my life". Real purpose requires a God. Here's what atheist Bertram Russell said about purpose:

“Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.” –Bertrand Russell (20th century philosopher, mathematician and Nobel Laureate)

So, without God there can be no real meaning to life, however, through various psychological techniques we can give ourselves the feeling/illusion of meaning.

"Befriending other people" or "making the world a better place" or "creating a better tomorrow" are just things we do so that we can praise ourselves and imagine others praising us. This praise leads to good feelings and those good feelings give the illusion of meaning.

of a meaningful life.

My most meaningful role in life is that of Mother to my daughter.

I have other roles, that bring meaning to my life, and hopefully others as well: friend, mentor, daughter, sister - I take my personal relationships very seriously as I find that these bring me the most valuable rewards life offers. I also am a Christian and my faith gives my life great meaning too.
