Substitute Gatorade or Powerade.
Go backpacking out in the wilderness for a few days where you can't get any pop. Caffeine withdrawals end after 4 days.

The headaches are from caffeine withdrawal. If you want to tough it out, the headaches usually subside after 72 hours. However you could "wean" yourself off the pop. This is also how you can get yourself off of the sugar version as well. Start with mixing the caffeinated version with the noncaffeinated equivalent at about a 1/2 and 1/2 proportion. Drink as many as you would usually drink in a day, i.e., 4, but at the 1/2 and 1/2 proportion. Over the span of about a month, slowly increase the proportion of decaffeinated soda to caffeinated until you are drinking the decaffeinated type only. That should take care of the headaches. You can give up the sodas completely or just adjust to the decaffeinated/sugar-free version.
Good luck.

Cut back a little each day. Do 3 and a half today, three tomorrow, by the end of the week you will be down to nothing. The headaches are probably from caffeine withdrawal. Yo could try replacing the pop with some tea, to minimize this.

You can have sodas in moderation but if you want to stop drinking them to lose weight then jus STOPING cold turkey is going to be a challenge. I suggest maybe start off like 3 pops a day then 2 then 1 tell you get to the point off jus drinking 1 a day. The find substitutions for sodas such as gatorade, lemonade, ice tea ect.

Oh yeah, I have the same problem. You are really addicted to caffeine. Start to drink green tea instead of drinking pop. I bring tea to work with me instead of Diet Coke now. You will have bad head aches for a few days but they will go away shortly and it will be like you never drank pop in your life. I still drink pop here and there but I actually prefer tea now. The good thing about green tea is that there is such a variety of flavors and brands to chose from. I hope you find one you like. My personal favorites are Diet Lipton green tea with citrus and Arizona green tea with Chinese apple and pomegranate. If you like sweeter beverages, try a white tea with raspberry.
Hope this was helpful!

Drink something else. I'm Catholic and I have given up soda for Lent several times. I realize that you may not be Catholic and if you are, Lent won't roll around until next year. Probably want to start before then. Pick a holiday to start or the day after the holiday. There is one coming up ya know.

start drinking less
The caffeine give you the headaches cuz you've been addicted to it. The same thing happened to me when i drank energy drinks.
So start to drink 3 a day for like a week
then drink about 2 a day for a week
then 1
then none.
Substitute water for the pop
doesn't taste like anything and it keeps you skinny =]

try a non calorie drink or an energy drink. or natural fruit juice! really it comes down to just forcing urself to stop, you were unhealthy the last 2 years and u may have to suffer a little because of it.. but its worth it to get healthy..pop is so bad for you!

Just think about what pop is. There nothing in pop that does anything good for your body, its just suger and acid. Instead of buying pop buy a Fuze, Vitamin water or any kind of juice.

The headaches are sign of withdrawal;-{ from sugar or sweeteners and caffeine.
You need to find some safer substitutes;-} your body needs water.
Try mineral water flavoured with natural lemon/lime juice.
Or make unsweetened iced tea.
