It's not a completely gay resort. Yes, it is most known for the gay section of the island, but I was there 2 weeks ago and there are different parts of the island. Some for families, some for singles (gay or straight), but all in all it is a great island to relax on. There are no cars allowed on the island, it's 40 miles long and a 1/2 mile wide... it's great. If you get the chance, go!

You have to go to Bay Shore to ride the ferry to Fire Island. You have your choice of a few different villages on the island.
