I think they are imitating rap stars. Sadly, that's about all they have to look up to and copy. I really wish the next fashion craze among rap singers would be for them to wear their pants up under their armpits or something. And put their hats on straight.

I agree, it is a stereotype. I actually have seen young men of all races do that gesture. I honestly think that they do that as a way to hold their pants up while they are walking. If you notice, the same young men who do that also tend to walk with their legs spread apart little more so than a young man walking with fitting pants on. I guess this is what you were referring to when you said "swaying". It's just a way to keep their loose fitting jeans up. Also it has something to do with wanting to maintain that "hard" "bad boy" image. Hope that answers your question...

the fee of ettiquette is proper to the community you're in. Which youthful black men do you comprehend? Are they medical scholars, donning fits or white lab coats? youthful black marketers, at conferences with their clever friends? Or, are they (as i believe you say), youthful black "gangsta" varieties, which you're patently retaining all black men in stereotype with? some youthful black men have undesirable manners, because of the fact manners at the instant are not proper of their circle of buddies. to not ask your self you or something, however the proclivity to have undesirable etiquette is rampant between under-knowledgeable, disenfranchised, inner-city dwellers, and this habit is seen between individuals of all races, heritages, and ethnicities. in case you wrote this question to ruffle human beings's feathers, get knowledgeable on "etiquette" your self. What you reported is the two "impolite" or "ignorant" on your section. the two way, as a properly-mannered guy or woman, i visit grant you the excellent ingredient related to the doubt, and examine out to not take offense. thank you on your question. i'm hoping it educates others who proportion your view.

I agree that it's rude, but I see my boss, a big white guy, do it all the time. Some people are just more discrete about it.

Wow. Some of these answers are just...sad. Anyway, this question is sad too. But I guess I'll waste a few minutes of my life and answer it....THEY ALL DON'T DO IT. It's a stereotype. You wouldn't like it if someone judged you or your race....*shaking my head at the ignorant people in this world*

They probably learned it from baseball players...or they are worried they are still there. Women don't check their breasts to see if they have shifted or disappeared. I guess guys worry about it more.
