First off, ask youself how many calories you consume a day, INCLUDING what you drink. Many people do not realize they are taking in that many calories.
Second, try this. Breakfast really is important. It kinda gets your brain out of bed and ready for the day. Instead of thinking doughnuts or honeybun, try thinking some kind of whole-grain cereal (Nature Valley is good) and cold milk or maybe some oatmeal with fresh fruit. You dont have to stop cold turkey on all your bad habits. Make one change at a time, to one meal at a time. Try to eat six times a day and almost anyone can tell you that it will boost the metabolism.
Third, exercise is the key. Some activity is better than none. Go walking around the neighborhood or ride your bikes together. Swimming is great too because its a whole-body workout. Try getting in some type of activity of at least 30 minutes, an hour if you can afford the time. Do this 2-3 times a week, and will start to see results as long as you are dedicated.
Fourth, give yourself a day that you spoil yourself. Give yourself that milkshake or candybar, but dont overdo it.
Fifth, to wean off of those caffiene-laden Pepsi's, drink regular tea (unsweet if you can tolerate it) or hot chocolate. A lot of people find those helpful to ease the withdrawl process as far as headache goes. Try to get down to straight water and no soda. Soda is not only bad for weight, its also bad on your teeth because they have a lot of sugar and acid in them.
Dont get me wrong, some junk food once in a blue moon is not bad but you really have to be determined at what you want to do. If nothing else, think about what you are doing that is so much better for your body. Before you take a supplement, you really need to check with your doctor and make sure it is safe for you to take (since you are still young). Hope this helps.

Cut it down to 2 pepsis a day. One during each meal. Drink water the rest of the time. Cutting out soda all together is really tough but 600 empty calories per day is a lot. If you can, go with diet pepsi.
It's not about the number of meals you eat. It's what you are eating during thoses meals. Don't starve yourself. It can be counter productive.
159 for 5' is pretty heavy. Its good you are trying to get that down.
Try to do it without drugs. A lot of thoses drugs are very dangerous. Just do it with exercise. Start off easy like with walking and work your way up when you get more stamina and get your weight down.
Walk, ride a bike, do chores around the house.

from my experience, you're too young to take diet pills (I did when I was your age and it really screwed me up) Your body isnt done growing yet, so dont screw with it.
having said that, you should probably be eating 1700-1800 calories a day, it helps if you break them into smaller meals, like eating 5 times a day, snack like meals.
15 pounds a month is a bit too fast to lose weight. you want to stick to losing about 10, its safer. 2 pounds a week is a good goal.
also you need to boost up your excersising. I'm sure you know that once a month isnt enough. But 5 times a week is a bit extreme if you're just starting off. maybe try a real workout 3 times a week, and a brisk walk on the days where you dont workout.
good luck, stay motivated, and have fun! (I know its hard to imagine, but if you want to stick with the excersising, you need to find something thats fun to do)
P.S. Dont use Alli, its been all over the news that the product is no good. Its giving people really bad diarrehea (sorry I cant spell) and making them really sick.

There's a good chance that the one pound after exercising once was actually water weight. You'll lose a pound or two just in water from sweating each time you work hard. You'll eventually drink this back, but that's healthy. Like some other users said you just have to consistently exercise. It's hard to really get started. You really just have to find a routine that you think you can do regularly. If you come up with a routine you can stick to, you'll be in good shape.
As for calories, you can always ask your doctor.
This link has diet/calorie recommendations specifically for teenagers. I didn't really go through it much so I'm not sure how legitimate it is. Read away and use your best judgment.

Okay, so let me understand your situation. 1. You're taking in 600 calories a day in soda, which is like almost a whole meal in itself, and you don't want to give that up. 2. You're under-eating the things you need, which throws your body into starvation mode and holds on to every calorie you take in. 3. You want to lose 2.5 to 3 pounds a week, which is a little on the high end. 4. Now you're wanting to throw pharmaceuticals into the mix.
Let's start with this math equation:
Men's BMR = 66 + (13.7 X weight in kgs) + (5 X height in cms) – (6.8 X age in yrs).
Women's BMR = 655 + (9.6 X weight in kgs) + (1.8 X height in cms) – (4.7 X age in years)
So for you, that's 655 + (9.6 x 71.6kg) + (1.8 x 154.4cm) - (4.7 x 15).. total: 1549.78
And because you'll be doing moderate exercise, we take BMR X 1.375 = 2130.
So.. that formula says you need 2130 calories to MAINTAIN your current weight. If you eat less, or if you exercise, then the calories you skip and the calories you burn are deducted. If you deduct 3500 calories in a week, you should lose 1lb. If you deduct 7000 calories in a week, you should lose 2lbs.
The most healthy way is to split it between diet an exercise. IOW, cut 500 calories from that number, so you need at least 1630 calories of healthy food. If you're eating less than that already, you need to INCREASE your food to that amount. If you're too low, your body goes into starvation mode and you dont' lose weight.
You can also exercise, i.e. riding a bicycle outdoors for an hour is around 400-500 calories spent (depending on speed and terrain).
Keep a food log of everything you eat and how many calories it takes. Use the website www.nutritiondata.com to look up everything you eat. Use the website http://www.nutristrategy.com/activitylist4.htm to look up how many calories burned with exercise.
The important thing is to eat the correct amount, not more, not less. And I know you started this with doing it without cutting Pepsi.. but you should at least cut down to one a day. Sugar stuff like that screws with your blood sugar and can screw up your hunger level. I still have a soda a couple of times a week, but usually just a little (i've actually found myself throwing out half-drunk cans of soda cause I've just had enough).

All of the above answers are correct so I won't retype it all.
I will just add one point, put a penny in a pepsi for a month then go back and look at it, it doesn't take a month to rust and corrode it beyond belief but a month will give you a better idea of how much damage the pepsi does to your insides. Coke does it too.
Carbonated soda with all those sugars are no good for anyone. If you give up pepsi and switch to fruit juice and water you will drop a lot of weight very fast.

Sugar soda will kill your diet! You can't loose weight while you are drinking 600 calories of sugar each day. All that caffeine will get you also!
Personally, I stopped drinking the soda and I lost weight. I only drink diet soda, even though that's not the greatest thing. I'm just not having all that sugar.
The best way to loose weight is to eat healthy and exercise. I count calories and use a program called "Calorie king." Go to calorie king.com to check this out. You can track your calorie intake, exercise & weight. It gives you suggestions, based on your activity level, for your daily calorie intake. It has a HUGE data base of foods, including many resturants.
I have Calorie King on my computer & then sinque it up with my Palm. This is NOT a commercial for them. I'm just a satisfied owner of the program.

you have put your body into starvation mode by not giving it the proper nutrition...any kind of pop isn't the best for being nutritious...you are paying a big price for sugared water with chemicals mixed in...if you want to be healthy and lose weight, go for a realistic number of about 8 lbs a month...2 lbs a week is plenty if you do it for a year, you will have lost 24 lbs...but if you exercise while eating properly, you will certainly lose more than 2 lbs a week...just don't starve your body and give it what it needs...you are still growing inside, so you need all that nutrition...plus it will help you look younger when you are in your 40s...you will look back and thank yourself for eating right when you look 10 yrs younger than your friends...

Cut out the Pepsi! Substitute coffee at breakfast and after lunch. Eat small portions of healthy foods, whole grains, fruits and veggies. You'll lose weight AND be much healthier without the addiction you have to Pepsi now. The sooner you quit, the better off you'll be. You can do it!

Sorry...soda is liquid poison...once in a while is okay but 4 a day is keeping those pounds on you...don't focus on your weight, focus on your tone...exercise a lot, drink a lot of water and eat a healthy balanced diet...it might sound like rhetoric, but it is true...don't worry about how many calories you have burned...change your lifestyle, stay active and you will improve physically...
