I found out that i tend to get a lot less respectfull of others beliefs in questions where my own beliefs are disrespected. (I thank God that i didn't write anything ofensive or hurtful, only some sharp sarcastic coments that might have gotten me one or two thumbs down (or one or two thmbs up, go figure...)
How about you wha kind of stuff unleashes the fundamentalist inside you? And how do you answer to it, with Love, with respect etc?

I try to always treat others with respect and love in Christ, but it irritates me when people who have no idea what they're talking about, bash Christianity

MOST intelligent people want NOTHING to do with any religion's fundamentalist factions... which tend to have repressive, bigoted, and ignorance-based agendas. As is the case with the RRR Cult infestation in the USA... the "Religious" Radical Right.
RRR Cult : Society :: 5% arsenic solution : glass of drinking water.

For me it's people who warp and subvert the Teachings of Jesus to the causes of intolerance, pettiness and spite.
Reading the Bible made an agnostic of me. I've been a "Christian in Recovery" for better than 30 years.
But when I see Fundies preaching hate, these men and women no different in spirit from those Jesus whipped from the steps of his Father's Temple, I rise in Wrath to defend the New Covenant and thunder like Jeremiah.

I also tend to polarize my beliefs when I'm attacked. And the ghosts of my upbringing also bring out stubborn fundiness.

I just answer as honestly and truly as I can. But I will tell you, people making light of God, Hell and the Bible gets on my bad nerve. Also these young children trying to be grown ups and thinking they are so deeply in love with a worthless piece of crap, really riles my Steam.

As an Atheist, I don't believe my beliefs are respected; and, it is very hard to respect the beliefs of people who do not respect my beliefs.

YA R&S does it for me... all of the "&^%$" here serves to prove my positions are correct in most cases. at least those positions I know come from God.
I will admit that in some of the non theological issues I have seen some thngs here that have given me a bit different perspective...
But in the God stuff I am even more firm in my position thanks to the ignorant chalenges of the haters and baiters here.
