I was wondering how Osama communicates his orders. Does he give and recieve his information by Camel back riders? To me it sounds ridiculous that we are going to gain a real advantage in the war on terrorsim by capturing Osama. Where am I wrong. Thanks

All kidding aside. Al-Qaeda, the Taliban, Hamas and all the other terrorist groups are not the cave dwelling, smelly idiots we would like to think they are. Their communictions networks are every bit as sophisticated as any super powers. The internet is flooded with cryptic messages on certain web sites and chat rooms. Some is misinformation some isn't. They both serve a purpose. One of the major contributing factors to the 911 attacks was the fact that these terrorists were underestimated in their abilities.
As for capturing Osama bin Laden, it would make no difference. He may already be dead. No one, absolutely no one out side their circles know for sure. If he is dead well, you can see by current events, his death made no difference. If anything terrorist activities have increased. I agree with you that capturing or killing bin Laden will give us no significant advantage. Maybe a moral boost but, that's about it.

Osama probably uses runners to carry messages. Or hidden messages in the spots you see on TV news (?). We have done a good job of controlling his access to electronic messaging. I am sure that he will use what ever means possible to transmit his messages, except cell phones, etc. I don't think Osama will be taken alive if we found him. His death will not end the War on Terror. It has become a world wide movement. If anything, he will become a martyr and rallying cry for the terrorists. What is important is not the leader but the message he has been able to get his followers to believe in. Osama's death would be good for our morale though. If he should be captured, I really doubt we would get much info out of him. What will really help the War on Terrorism is the acceptance of more people to realize that it exists It would also help if our leaders (not military ones) would do a little more concentrating on the war and not on sniping at each other and spending so much time on the upcoming election which is still almost a year and a half away.

Osama Bin Laden doesn't control all Al Qaida factions. Many of them just use the Al Qaida name for recognition. Osama Bin Laden is a "honorary" leader in those organizations but doesn't direct their actions.

Osama Bin Laden is also not responsible for all terrorist attacks in the world. There are men like al-Zawahiri are more than capable to replace Bin Laden.

Killing Bin Laden is like removing the President, there are other capable individuals who can take over the job.

At one time I would have said that by capturing Osama, we would have hurt his organization. In my opinion, there are to many nut jobs waiting in the wings to step into the void . Osama probly uses runners and the internet( lets not forget the mass media ) to do the majority of his communicating orders to his followers.

Not any less danger certainly. you can never kill a matyr!
Also the the current administration has provided many new terrorist groups with both motivation and training. Osama bin Ladins death is a moot point.

Bin Ladin isn't the main target anymore but he is still a target. The government is not sure if he is still giving orders, but they still won't stop looking for him. They are only focusing a small portion of the soldiers to looking for him. Mostly we are hunting down taliban leaders who want all christians and jews dead.

I don't believe the capture or non-capture of Osama will altar anything in this war. There is always another terrorist who will step up to the plate to further their horrible cause!! It would be gratifying to see Osama caught though!

Even if Osama is captured or killed, the problem of global terrorism goes beyond him. There are so many terrorist groups (Al Qaeida, Hezzbolah, Hamas, etc.) that the threat goes beyond him.

There are too many illiterate Muslim lemmings following the sensationalistic claims of bin Laden and other radical Muslim "leaders" such as himself. So, no, finding him dead will only add fuel to the fires of terrorism... finding him alive will do the same thing.

It would be better to find him alive, since his death will skyrocket him to the Muslim pedestal of martyrdom.
