Why arent you allowed to chew gum in singapore? Anyone tell me. i was on a plane over there and before we got off they asked s to spit out our gum, so i went to a store to find some gum and NO store had any? whas up with this

Banned years ago because it was causing problems in housing developments.

Because people who chew gum often spit it out on the street or leave it under tables and such, and the government in Singapore does not want that to happen.

It will save you from a public caning.
This law is to keep gum from being thrown on the streets, etc. There was a guy who did that there, an American, a few years back. He received a public caning on his behind for it. It was all over the news.

It's the law and I wish we had the same here. I get tired of everyone's gum all over everything because they are too lazy to properly dispose of it.
