I am a picky eater. I don't like mangos, kiwis, blueberries, seafood, pork, ham, sausages, pepperoni, and that's only the beginning. My mother is Japanese so she always makes Japanese dishes, most which I do not like. For me she makes basically the same meals every day and I'm starting to get tired of chicken, rice, curry, stuff like that. I want something new but something I also like. Any suggestions?

Ask the picky eater what they want to eat. Then cook what they want to eat. If they still don't eat. Do not ever cook what they ask for again. The easiest cure for picky eaters is to not give into their demands. People will eat anything if they are hungry enough. There are many foods that I used to hate that I now enjoy. Mostly vegetables but now that I know better methods of preparing foods I can enjoy them.

It has been my experience with picky eaters that it makes them feel very descriminating, superior and special in some way, and gets them more attention than not being so picky does.

The reality of it is that it just makes the rest of us roll our eyes - even if it is behind their backs, which defeats their purpose really - because we just look at them as a "pain" and not superior in ANY way!!!

I am sure it gives you a sense of power to "make" your Mother make a special meal for you every day - but looking at it from an outsider's point of view, it just makes you look extremely selfish and self-centered.

If your ma is fixin' for just you when she cooks then it is time for you to go the grocery store with her to pick out stuff that you might like to eat. From a frozen pizza or a potpie. Even fish sticks to keep things simple for her. Look at the kinds of soup and flovors or rice and noodle dishes. You may try some and not like them but you will be surprised about others.

Go to recipe sites that have a feature that allows you to put in ingredients that you have on hand or in your case food that you like . i think Kraft foods has one. Get some recipes, include these ingredients in the weekly shopping list. Then make some of these meals. The meals we make for ourselves are exactly how we like them. The bonus is your Mom will have someone make a meal for her too!

What about pasta with either marinara or alfredo sauce? Macaroni and cheese? Mashed potatoes? Tacos?
