My husband and I sort of gave up "partying on the weekends." No more drinking and just hanging out all hours of the night. It was no big deal to me because I was excited to be a mother. My husband has to save his money up now if he wants to go buy something expensive because our daughter is our first priority. You can pretty much do what you did before but in moderation and not at a "drop of a hat." Just plan ahead and things should work out. Having a child is better than any other rush you used to get!

I am now a stay at home dad, as of 4 months ago. I kept the muscle car, the VERY vintage bass guitar, and all the other toys, but gave up the job to personally raise my boy. I couldn't be happier. I have, however, given up many things, but they don't seem like it to me, such as: Going out to see a movie, keeping up with current events, and getting out the door to do ANYTHING takes more effort. If I were in to, say, motorcycling, I would be a little strapped in, but for me, it's great - I'll be visiting your blog, check out mine if you like, too.

It is an incredible change in your lifestyle. You need to keep a constant focus on the kids and all aspects of their needs and development, which is a 24/7 commitment. Learn to go to bed early so you can get up early. Best of luck to your family.

My husband and I don't go out any more. I gave up my style of clothing to have a better influence, I gave up my style of dressing, music, bike riding, and book reading.temporarily gave up nail polish. Most of the things I did for fun I gave it up.I gave up my body to carry another person in it. I gave up more than my husband did.

ok when I had my first kid we child proofed the WHOLE house and cat. Car I mean. MAKE SURE you don't have automatic windows. a girl I knew rolled her neck up in the window and died in front of her dad. she was 3.
make sure to put plastic outlet covers over outlets too.
these will help a lot: (childproofing house)

i didnt ask for much since we were on welfare, but my uncle thought it would be funny to throw out my 'woobee', my special blanket, while i was away. never do that to a kid. I loved that blanket.
