Would there be any justification in his doing so?

For Christians -- Would you find it morally repugnant if your Heavenly Father slaughtered a thousand people? A million people?

Or is He ALWAYS justified in killing?

CJ, you mean all the cities in all the world?

If my Dad were a King, and he had good reasons for killing these people...for instance, if they were involved in slaughtering their children as sacrifices, or if they were forever raiding the villages nearby for virgins to sacrifice in their ceremonies, if they were raping, and robbing, and pillaging, and causing misery everywhere they went...then, yes, he would be justified, whether it were a thousand, a million, or even a trillion. After all, Dad HAS to have the best interests of ALL the people in mind, ALWAYS...he can't allow any one group to harm themselves or any other group...
Of course, humans being human, my Dad would probably make exceptions for the pretty girls...

So, you see God's problem, I think? He would be totally justified in wiping the entire human race out of existence...I'm thinking that if I were God, I probably would have done so long ago...
But He hasn't.
At least, not yet.
He seems to think that there are at least a few of us worth saving.
Even worth dying for....

He must see something in the human race that I have missed...but I love Him for His kindness, and only hope that I can give it back to Him in a measure of kindness to others.

Wow...All by himself? Hmmmm, ya know, there could be a justification in his feeling the necessity to take these lives. If he just slaughtered helpless population, I would find that repugnant.

Now whats interesting is this topic can include the death penalty, for people are sentenced to death for crimes. So if an entire city is slaughtered for something evil, say incest, than isn't god just carrying out the death penalty?

Keep in mind that I'm against the death penalty, so I'm questioning the morality of god's actions.

Yes, needless slaughter would be morally repugnant to me, even if committed by a loved one.

If you are questioning the morality of the God some particuar folks assert, then I suggest you frame your questions in a bit more precise terms.

God is in and of us as people. God allows us to live our lives under Man's imperfect law. God has intended for us to discover his way through his son Jesus Christ, and the imperfect success of our efforts leads to many horrors and atrocities. This in no way denigrates God's perfect plan for all of us as his people. Our striving for a return to the way of God is what gives our mortal lives purpose and dignity. May I suggest you open your heart to God's word? I can tell you that God is not some malevolent despot or a Santa figure who has failed you, You have failed God. We all have failed God. The good news is that he sent his Son to atone for our sin and failure and through grace has opened the kingdom of heaven to us all. I've read more than a few of your questions and they all involve a smarmy sanctimonious view of religion. Many of your questions betray a childish naivete of what and who God is so I doubt I will have any effect on you with my answer

I find it morally repugnant that my father is a racist. He never had to kill even one person for me to feel that way about him. The god of the Bible is such a horror that I would not worship him if he were to show himself to me and invite me to do so.

Yeah poster death from above got it, those atheists are immoral and amoral. We need schools be like camp jesus and throw out science and have children pray five times a day while in school and make them attend sunday class while mommy and daddy are in church. The only book in school should be the bible the bible has all the answer.

last 100 years

Lenin (atheist) 5,000,000
Stalin (atheist) 20,000,000 (10,000,000 in Ukraine starved to death)
Followers of Stalin (atheists all) 5,000,000 lost in gulags
Mao Tse Dong (atheist) 5,000,000
Pol Pot (atheist) 4,000,000
Eastern Europe (at hands of atheists) 2,000,000 plus two generations wasted

Oh, please don't tell me Hitler was a christian, he was an ugly occultist who exploited church. Don't you find the above morally repugnant ?
While church and organized religion are certainly to blame for atrocities, I find it morally repugnant to close one's eyes on the atrocities of atheists. Their victims deserve better...
