I have a 6 week old Border Collie puppy and he's fine in himself when he's up and about but when he's asleep he rolls his eyes and thrashes about. My Mum says he's dreaming but it looks like he's having some sort of fit to me. Can anybody reassure me? All replies gratefully received, thanks

To all the sanctomonious people querying why I have a 6 week old puppy it's because the farm he came from was devastated in the floods and his mum rejected the whole litter through the trauma of it all

he is dreaming.i bought my puppy at 6 weeks.we went to several breeders which all had lovely breeding farms and all of them said it was OK for them to leave mum at 6 weeks as long as they felt the dogs were healthy and eating well.

Sounds like she is just having a dream. As she grows up I don't think she'll do that anymore. If something happens to her, and it gets worse, see a vet. Make sure she feels safe also.. that might have enough to do with the problem.

Puppies have dreams too! Sometimes they can be scary. When this happens, gently touch your puppy and whisper soothing words to him. He should calm down after you pet him for a minute or two. Try not to wake him up, puppies need their sleep just like people!

Only a vet can answer that...dogs do "run" in their sleep along with woofing and doing other things. Look up epilepsy and seizures in dogs you may get some good info on it.
