Honest, Practical, Humanatarian, Peaceful and loving people. I have read both the Bible and Quran therefore it is quite strange for me to see Atheists being close to the lives and qualities Jesus and Muhammed then the theists.

Jesus once said "My friends, what good is it to say you have faith, when you don't do anything to show that you really do have faith? Can that kind of faith save you? If you know someone who doesn't have any clothes or food, you shouldn't just say, "I hope all goes well for you. I hope you will be warm and have plenty to eat." What good is it to say this, unless you do something to help? Faith that doesn't lead us to do good deeds is all alone and dead"

Muhammed once said "Do not say, that if the people do good to us, we will do good to them; and if the people oppress us, we will oppress them; but determine that if people do you good, you will do good to them; and if they oppress you, you will not oppress them."

Life is funny,So what are your opinions?

I am on the fence...one of the reasons for my waning faith has been theist violently, angrily hitting me over the head with their "good book" expounding words. My premise is "Witness by doing not by saying"
~~~~But, I have to say that here in YA, I have met many people who exemplefy Jesus' teachings in every belief system (for a lack of a better description)
As for me I live by the words of my father: "If your word is good and you are good to your word, then you have a good heart"
I have had good and bad experiences with both Theists and Atheists... But I have to agree, the Atheists were by and far the more likely to give me an honest, polite answer, with a minimum of bashing.
Most of the questions I have asked, and answers I have given, would lead a person to think that I am a believer, if not a Christian... yet the "Christians" are usually the ones that blow up and get angry. The Atheists generally give decent answers, even the ones who come off hostile.
Now let me explain the quotation marks I used around "Christians"...
Most TRUE Christians are usually good people that really try to give insight into their beliefs and values. But the "Christians" are the ones who simply blindly believe something just because someone tells them to. they are usually hostile, and rarely make sense. They can almost never back up anything they say, and generally resort to childish insults. Let me restate that these are not a majority, and I DO NOT consider them the Christian norm.
But back to your question. Yes, I have had MANY more positive experiences with Atheists. =)
Yeah, i agree, many atheists here seem to be really good people. There are some really good theists also. I don't know which group "does better". In one side there are some religious fundies who don't seem to spread the love Jesus and Muhammad talked about. In the other side there are some terrible and mean atheists question (yesterday i read one that accused people who prayed for the lives of puppys selfish), those are not loving or humanitarian (and there are quite a few of them).
Still, i believe things are working out here on R&S and as far as i can see ofenses are diminishing.
Strangely enough, I think age plays a role in this.
It is my observation that the mean age of the Atheists on this forum is about 30-40; I'm 36, and I know the ages of many others on here. When you get to be older, you generally do mellow out and not get so excited and irritable over such little things.
Now, the loudest partisans of Christianity tend to be younger. I get the impression that these are still persons in their teens and twenties. Younger people who post are more likely to do so just for the shock value, or for the sake of inflammatory rhetoric.
I have to say, the best record I've seen overall for R&S has to go to the Muslims. The Muslims are the most polite and have responded to the worst behaviour with the most grace. They deserve recognition for their great behaviour.
I think that some of the very militant theists have stopped seeing the bigger picture. Several times, they have looked more at the passages that reads "infidels are fools" or whatever, rather than the passages that state you should love your neighbor. I do not think they are bad people, but that they've just lost sight of what Jesus was preaching.
However, not all atheists are warm caring people. Some are as bad as the Christians.
99% of the atheists on here are very non judgemental people. Other than the ones who say God is a fake & not just say I don't believe, I've learned to respect & they give atheists a good name. I'm a Christian & I have faith but I can't show anyone proof that there's God & I wouldn't be so arrogant as to try.
Yes, that has been my observation as well. I have never bought into the notion that faith is better than deeds. What nonsense. Most atheists I have met, either in real life or here on Y!A, are really good people.
Yes, I respect atheists opinions and their answers are something quite funny. We as Christians are not suppose to oppress anyone, but love and encourage.
i do no longer see the factor of certainly one of those area, by using fact the atheist adventure is that of the effects of religion on ourselves and society. In different words, it somewhat is the social, criminal and different aspects of religion that are properly worth discussing, and those does no longer be constrained in relevance to an 'atheist' area. So no, as i do no longer think of certainly one of those area would have any fee. I already think of R&S loses out by ability of the certainty that maximum Muslims prevalent the Ramadan area somewhat of right here.
I've prolly said it before, but I find it spiritually uplifting to observe the "faith" in humanity displayed on this forum by participants of whatever religion.
Of course, there are antagonists, young people with overstated opinions and people like me, always with something stupid or sarcastic to say.. but frankly we just want to feel involved in the fellowship of this faith in humanity.
