In my state it costs $25 or $35 dollars.

Go to the town hall..let them know your intentions and they will give you the appropriate paperwork. I guess you can do an internet search for the paperwork too.

After you file it, you will get an appointment with a judge...it is really quick and painless, there was 4 people in the room when I had it done.

It cost me one hundred dollars for a lawyer to file a name change in court. It wouldn't have cost anything if i had done it when i filed for divorce.

What's the reason for a name change? If it's for marriage, the name change is included when you fill out the marriage license application.
