I have never used a hot air brush before, but I can tell you that if you are trying to straighten your natural hair you should use a ceramic flat iron. Straightening your hair in it's natural state will disturb the natural curl. When you want to go back to the natural afro puff, you will have a few straight strands of hair has if you had perm on the ends of the hair.

don't know about the brush but my daughter can get a beautiful, huge Afro with a hair dryer on a low setting and a seperate brush. However, she hasn't had an Afro for some time now as she doesn't like it. I think it's great but she hates it. Try a normal hair brush and a hair dryer on low.

no, you do not need to apply heat to make an afro (i'm guessing you have natural)...you just need to moisten your hair with a lil bit of water and oil, then use a wide tooth comb to shape it. once you have your perfect shape it is done, you will; however, have shrinkage. you could also try adding some leave in conditioner to dry hair then putting in big braids, when your ready for the fro take the braids out and finger comb a bit...this will result in a chunky fro that shows length
