Interesting question. How does something without physical form get defeated? "How do you kill that which has no life" hehe :]
The boring answer would probably be the angels would use 'the glory of God' to command the demonic to stand down, but I personally don't believe that.
Consider that the angel Gabriel was able to be detained for 21 days, and had to be helped by Michael to complete his mission. If angels were able to use God's authority in the above mentioned way Gabriel wouldn't have been detained, and he wouldn't have required help.
Another possibility would be the weapons mentioned in the Bible, such as flaming swords. We don't know if those weapons are allegorical however. You can use a sword to pierce a physical body because it damages internal organs or causes blood loss/trauma, but how does it work when it's used against spirit?
There's really no definite answer that anyone can give you, unfortunately. What we can tell you is that the structure of angels is built upon levels of authority. Some angels are higher than others, and have more authority than the others. It could be suggested that when Satan and the fallen angels were cast out of heaven they retained their level of authority, but lost their ability to command in God's name. That could explain how Gabriel was able to be detained, and required a higher angel's help (Michael).
Of course that still doesn't explain what the actual weapons they used would be. Perhaps the swords represent the spirit's authority, and to defeat another spirit in combat would merely illustrate the victor's high level of authority which would force the lower spirit to retreat to it's respective domain. Sortof like how rams butt heads to display strength, and the weaker retreats.
As for our souls getting conscripted, I don't think we'd be fighting the battle for either side. Hell is punishment for rejecting God in life, Heaven is the paradise God welcomes you into if you submit to him (basically). In neither case would we have any contact whatsoever with the other, atleast that I've ever heard of.

And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.-And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. -And the sea gave up the dead which were in it;and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in it: and death and hell delivered up the
dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. -And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.- And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. Dude get a grip, the devil is a liar always been a liar always will be a liar. Read the King James authorized version which was translated from Greek and Hebrew without added comments and opinons. This is King James greatest contribution to the world that he let us read the truth.

ethereal fire swords and Vorpal napalm hand grenades of fire and sulphur.
I actually got that from a video game. but most people would probably take it serious anyhow.
I also think you been watching to many movies.
The only war will be when Christ Jesus comes in the name of Jehovah with his angels by his side at the final war of Armageddon, to rid the earth of Satan his demons and wicked mankind that follow them.
i cant be sure about the weapons, but iam convinced it does have something to do with Gods holy spirit as the bases of there power.

I would think that they'd have fiery swords like in Fallen (GREAT show by the way...) and that one hit, one kill, would be it...I don't know if there's a draft in the afterlife, but if there is I think I'd be a good disembodied solider, especially if it's close-combat sword-to-sword combat since I was instructed by a couple of karate masters and stuff with both hand-to-hand and sword combat. BRING IT ON!!!

Each side would use various weapons, and the only difference would be that Heaven's weapons would be holy and Hell's weapons would be unholy. And Also in Heaven you could choose if you want to fight or not and in Hell you have to fight or eternal worse pain and suffering.

Doctrine and confusing quotes from a wide array of Holy Books on one side - perhaps satire, laughter, and offers of appropriate pills, from the other?

The angels have already fought that fight (when satan was booted from heaven), they defeated the enemy with the blood of J-sus Christ.
We are in a fight NOW, we fight the "good fight of faith" and "our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, authorities..."
