Both since they are both facts. But evolution only to the point that the changes that occur within a species. One species cannot and will not ever give birth to a different species. That is proven scientific FACT.

But I'm beginning to get more tired of this question than I am the "Am I pregnant" question.

In American public schools I think Evolution should be taught in science class as it has been tested and validated by scientific evidence+study. Creationism can be taught in philosophy class but no other classes as it has no evidence with it.

If this is a private school then Creationism can be taught in religion or philosophy class but again as it is not scientific in any way it should be banned from science class.

Catherine> Because they are not the same. One is a scientific Theory which means has been tested and validated many times and has evidence to support it..creationism is just an idea which would be a hypothesis which has no evidence at all behind it. Would you teach Gravity and Magic side by side as equal theories? Because that is what you are actually proposing.

Chris> You don't understand Evolution evidently and creationism is not even close to being a fact.

msbhavin> good point. I always found it funny that those who say God created humans "as is" seem to be saying God doesn't have the know how or power to create a system that evolves into its desired result.

Children should be made aware of both ideas, but they should be taught in different classes and in different contexts so that they understand the differences between the two.

Creation should be taught in sociology, philosophy, and religion classes. It is a largely theological and philosophical idea that derives its basis from holy scriptures, and philosophical considerations about the likelihood of there being a higher being that gave us life and continues to guide or lives.

Evolution is a scientific theory and should be taught in biology and geology classes. It is derived from empirical evidence gathered over many years of research in the natural sciences and gives information about how the earth and life on earth have behaved through time.

However, contrary to the agenda of some, teaching creation in a science classroom is dishonest, deceptive and irresponsible. It will confuse children about the nature of science, and cause them to misunderstand how to use the scientific method. There is nothing wrong with including both ideas in a balanced curriculum, but creationist ideas, by definition, are NOT science and teaching them in a science classroom is harmful to a child's education. It would be no more appropriate than teaching children radiometric dating techniqes in a religious studies class.

Evolution should be taught in a science class as a scientific theory, just as gravity is and atoms. And should be kept as such, some Christians don't seem to understand that fact, Creationism, if it will be allowed in schools, should be in a different class because it has very little scientific fact to back it up (as far as I know at least) but it is still my opinion that Creationism should be kept where it belongs, in the church.

As others said, both, however, careful consideration should be used between the two. They should show both points for and against both, and let the students decide for themselves.
Some people say, Creationism should be for religion, and Evolution for science, however, it requires as much "faith" or "religion" to believe that we were created, as it does that we evolved from nothing essentially

Evolution (I'm also christian)

Evolution is the basis of all biology today, if you don't teach evolution than you are not teaching the kids how the science called biology is viewed and approached today, independently of what you believe in.

I think it would be interesting to have some intelligent debates on the subject and maybe even approach creationism, i don't know. Still, evolution i essential

I have had it with people who call them selves scientists and self appointed solution makers who keep on ruling out the existence of a creator even though the complexity of life around them and the fact they cannot explain zillions of things point out they might be wrong.
I explain, why is it that science develops crazy theories about the universe and the laws that govern it which happen to be way more far-fetched than the work of a creator ? They admit that the universe is too complex to be governed by chance, and they realize that if earth for instance was to be few centimetres closer or farther from the sun, no life could have existed on it in the first place ! The same thing applies to our own existence, they say there is no way the complexity of our brains, our hearts, the way we breath etc could have evolved from a simple organism that gave birth to this immense Varity of creatures all with a very precise purpose to play in the complex game of life ! And why are we the only creatures to ponder about our existence, why aren’t cows or squirrels making theories and using computers ?! why didn’t they evolve to the level we are now if we evolved from monkeys ? why didn’t some monkeys evolve to our standard ?? all these questions and many many more remain unanswered by the scientific community which keeps on proposing some far fetched “theories”, and for those who are not sure what a theory is, it’s nothing more that a speculation with no hard evidence.
So here we are, in a universe we barely understand, we try to deny the existence of a creator in order to allow our selves to behave like animals and therefore ignore all moral values which by the way, where did we get those values from, and why are they so perfect in making our lives more organised and prevent chaos and mayhem ?!!! if we are mere animals descending from monkeys why do we think steeling for instance is not good, animals do that all the time, and move on with no hard feelings or grudge for each other, the same applies to killing in the animal kingdom…oh and yeh cheating on your girl is also ok in the animal kingdom why do we get upset when that happen to us !!!
Now that the scientific community is stuck and cannot explain how perfect the design of life is they go as far as imagining a new theory which proposes that our universe is one of many other universes and that some of those universes might be so much technologically advanced that they would have the intelligence to simulate our universe just as we today simulate a computer game?? (meaning we are now living in a super massive computer system and on the other side of the screen are super smart green men enjoying their brand new 11 dimensional game !!!! Doesn’t that eerily remind you of something ?? someone intelligent controlling our lives and the laws of nature ??? !!! This is just instance, anything is possible, any thing is acceptable but God, no way !!!!
I never said Science should be ignored and that we should turn to religion only , quite the contrary, I believe that science could be much more productive if it were to introduce the concept of a creator to its dominantly secular belief system, God actually encourages to us to ponder and search for truth in this life because he is confident we will eventually find out the truth about his existence as Albert Einstein said on his death bed: “God is not hiding anything from us, he only wants us to look harder”
Take the hint !
I just wish they open their eyes before it’s too late !
Ps: When I say God I don’t necessarily mean Jesus or the Christian God for that matter, there are other religions too you know, if you really want to know God he will make himself apparent to you all you have to do is go out and look for him, it’s that simple.

Salam !

Evolution is based of factual finds and educated theories. Creation is based on a religion. Keep the two separate. What most Christians fail to realize is that once religion is permitted to enter the schools, ALL religions will enter the schools..then whos religious theories do you teach?

Religion and religious teaching should be left out of schools. Only scientific findings should be allowed in.

Evolution by all means. There are so many holes in the evolution theory that need to be filled and understood right now we need more educated people in the field. Then when the theory is thoroughly understood we can put an end to the foolish Creationist's foolish ideas.
