Actually, in many areas, Catholic and other religious hospitals do a lot of health care. Most have been officially split from the church in order to participate in Medicaid / Medicare, but still receive extensive funding from the churches. When psychiatric patients are discharged, they often wind up in shelters run by the churches. Other shelters are paid for by governmental sources. Allowing religious organizations to be paid for services that other providers are paid for is not unreasonable, but is potentially subject to abuse.

I don't know of one.

How about healthcare for children. I am on social security disability. I have medicare. That does not help my son.

Texas has CHIP, Childrens Health Insurance Program. I am grateful for it because he dos not qualify for medicaid.
