No. In fact, it's better for her to be inside only all the time. She might not like it at first. But outdoor cats don't live nearly as long as indoor only cats. Outdoor cats are subject to predation (coyotes, foxes, etc.), disease, and they get hit by cars. Their tendency to hide when frightened can make them get up inside cars and then killed when the owner starts the car. They also like to try to eat things that are toxic to them - like plastic, antifreeze, etc.

The statistics on this are really clear. Outdoor cats live less than 5 years on average. Indoor cats live more than 15. Keep her indoors. In fact, keep her in an interior room where she can't run for the door when people come and go from your house, at least until she gets used to being inside. She'll complain, but over time she'll get used to it, and she'll be much happier and healthier.

she's not likely to get lost. letting her out or not can be a tough choice, though. i know a lot of people will disagree with me, but any new cat i get i keep as an indoor cat only. occasionally i adopt a stray from the neighborhood. after vet checks, the new cat is generally an indoor-outdoor kitty because it's street smart. we've had good luck with this, but the statistics are right. outdoor access cats are in much more danger. i figure if kitty REALLY wants out and it knows the area, here it's a question of quality verses quantity. potentially shortened life, but happier life? longer life but bored kitty? go with your gut. then again, maybe kitty will adjust fine to indoor only. they're all so different...

It's safer for cats to stay inside, and better for the local wildlife as well. Dogs, coyotes, large birds of prey [if your cat is smaller in build], bears, etc can all kill a cat with ease.

They are also healthier as indoor cats rather than half in half out, or a completely outdoor cat. Diseases and parasites can kill your cat as well, such as Feline Leukemia, and worms. It won't hurt her to be inside, but if she was an outdoor cat before, she may drive you up the wall. Lol.

Absolutely not! It's much safer for the cat. They live a much longer and healthier life if kept indoors. I have a 9 year old Siamese I adopted as a kitten. He's never been outside and lives a very happy, healthy life. He's my little buddy, sleeps with me and follows me everywhere.

Where there's lots of land, there's coyotes. They kill and eat cats. Don't let her out!

It's funny but our cat sleeps all day and then he goes outside at night. He doesn't come home until morning. Usually I hear him at 5:00am-6:00am.
I worried about him at first but he's a tough cat. He's been in a few cat fights that required visits to the Vet. One time I used over the counter flea control and I poisoned him by accident. Luckily the Vet saved his life $200 later. My Vet said Never use over the counter flea products not recommended by the Vet.
Cat's love being out doors.

First of all, she is safer in the house. But, on really hot days, if you let the cat in she gets used to the air-conditioning and if you put her outside it may be to hard for her to beat the heat, as you could call it. But my grandparents have an inside-outside cat and it is doing fine as long as you keep fleas off...YOU DO NO WANT THEM IN YOUR HOUSE!!

Nope...I think it's A LOT better for cats to be indoors. Outdoors there are fleas, other animals that she would get in fights with, cars, etc... They are much safer indoors!

Let her out!!!! I keep my 4 cats inside only when it's rainning or when it gets dark. I have 4 acres of land, some is wooded too and they are fine. If you're concerned she won't find her way home if she goes too far, don't. Give her more credit, she'll know where home is!!!!
