Bad debt will stay on your credit report for 7 years. The fact that you paid them is better for your credit score than if they were still unpaid. But the fact is that it's your lack of financial responsibility that created the problem. You will just have to prove you are creditworthy now.

Pay all your current bills on time. It may take a couple years but the older the negatives, the less impact they have on your score.

The truth is that accounts show on your credit for 7-years weather you pay them off or not.

The only thing that will change is that they will show as "Paid $0 balance".

Credit repair companies are rip-offs. Nobody can remove anything from your credit report if the information is correct.

forget the lawyer & do it yourself. you'll be saving a lot of money. first get a copy of your credit report. go to the equifax link at https://efppublishers.com/About_Us.html
then review it & dispute what isn't correct & update it with the right information. depending on your situtation, you're score will increase. good luck.
