Cliff, First, Jehovaha witnesses are NOT Christians. The are a cult. The deny the Deity of Christ as the son of God, therefor they are not Christians. Second, they don't believe in hell, so how they could make you feel guilty and say you are going to hell, is beyond me. As to Christians? We are commanded to spread the "good news" Gospel means good news. There should be no efforts to make you feel guilty, or to tell you, you are hell bound. That is up to God. To make an effort to tell you that there is hope, that there is some one who loves you more than you could ever imagine: That yes, but if you do not wish to hear it, it is the Christains duty as commanded by Jesus, to leave you to your own path. You have been informed, you have made your choice, and you will live and die with the consequences of that choice. That's it, nothing more. We are taught that man is appointed to die once, and then the judgment. Just as those who refuse to accept the message will be judged, so will those how abuse the message. My most sincere apologies for any how have intruded upon you in the name of Christianity.

Jehovah's Witnesses don't believe in Hellfire. They would never tell someone that they would go to hell.
They also don't believe that everyone will go to heaven, only 144,000 do while the rest live forever on earth as per God's original purpose.
Many seem to think that Jehovah's Witnesses are at your door to convert you. They are there to deliver a message, if people like what they hear and want to convert then that's a different matter. You cannot simply say: "I'm a Jehovah's Witness" in order to be one. It takes months of study , maybe years, depending on the student. During that time, the student is encouraged to reason things out themselves, they do not tell anyone what to believe. If at the end of the study the student does not want to be baptized as a witness, they are not forced to.
Jehovah's Witnesses are by no means perfect, and they do not think that they are. In fact, through their studies of the scriptures they become more aware of their imperfections. Many people, even those with a faith, feel that it is acceptable to simply not do anyone any harm, but there is a lot more invloved in being a Christian. However, when it comes to following scripture, Jehovah's Witnesses make a real effort even though it is not always convenient for them.
Think about it - They gave up their free-time to come and speak to you. Maybe they would have preferred to have had a long-lie today instead getting up, getting dressed and preparing themselves to speak to a complete stranger about a subject that most people consider taboo - religion. Before they left their houses, they knew that they wouldn't be getting paid and that most people would be apathetic towards their message, some would hate the fact that they had disturbed them and there would be the possibility of verbal, perhaps even, physical abuse.
So, ask yourself, why do they do it? Week-in, week-out. What's driving them? If they are part of false religion, why is the true religion so silent? Shouldn't the true religion, who would obviously be blessed by God, be capable of even more preaching activity than Jehovah's Witnesses?
Jesus commanded his followers: "Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. And, look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things." (Matthew 28:19, 20). Why would anyone who considers themselves a Christian ignore that command?
-----------
James - Jehovah's Witnesses DO believe that Jesus is the son of God.
-----------
Bobdawn2 - Your sister does realise that by allowing Jehovah's Witnesses time to talk, she is giving them an opportunity to further prove their faith to themselves, even though she herself may choose not to listen. By doing this, the witnesses are enthused by having such a nice call that they may in turn increase their share in their public ministry and will therefore speak to more people.
Also, if your sister keeps two witnesses in her house, her neighbours will be contacted anyway by those who have come to her neighbourhood along with the two she has in her home.
The only persons time she is wasting is her own.

Jehovah's Witnesses believe that nearly everyone who dies go to the so-called "hell", including themselves. Witnesses well understand that only God and Christ can judge a person, and never pretend to do so themselves.
A common misconception is that Jehovah's Witnesses go from door-to-door because they feel it is their duty to "recruit" a householder, or get him to "convert". In fact, Jehovah's Witnesses would go from door-to-door even if there were no hope that anyone would change their religion, or even if no one would listen to them!
That is because Jesus Christ specifically assigned the house-to-house ministry to the Christian congregation, with no regard for specific results.
(Luke 10:1,2) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come. 2 Then he began to say to them: “The harvest, indeed, is great, but the workers are few. Therefore beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.
Jehovah's Witnesses are trained to direct attention to the bible, and move on when their message is unwanted. Since each congregation in the United States tries to call at every home in its territory at least twice each year, there is strong motivation for them to move on where little interest is shown. Also, the Scriptures help the Witnesses to expect little interest from most:
(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching ...and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

You're right. We all go to the exact same place, regardless of right or wrong doings. There are teachings, especially to do with karma, which says that we choose how we live and die. Not 100% sure i really believe it but whether we're Hitler or the queen, we all chose our paths, did as we intended and all go off to the same place. If thats really true then it doesn't seem fair that some of us can be angels our entire lives, others can kill thousands and yet there's no Hell nor' punishment for those kinds of atrocities. This is the Buddhist way of thinking. Who can really say?
I won't even entertain the JWs. If its such a good thing, why advertise?

Well youve got your pick of answers!
Your faith is a personal thing, if you dont have one its your personal choice.
But lets face it if YOU really believed you had this thingy that could save the world, no more suffering, everyone equal, no hunger, no disease, no need for cold callers, etc, you'd be doing the big sell too.
Some people just shut the door, some people argue the pitfalls of the product, some people ask yahoo to look for people who are also annoyed by the same thing.
Which ever, God gives you a choice as to how to respond to it, you dont need our advice, you could check in with him if you really wanted.
You have learned a valuable sales lesson though, if you want to sell a thing you shouldnt victimise your clients. God would never do this.

Its like when you know that eating something is bad for you (despite being tasty while eating it). You tell others that you care about that its bad for them and try not to eat it yourself but sometimes your weak.
Christians are compelled to reach out to others that they know or the bible says that the blood is on their hands - that they are partially responsible for others ending up in hell. At the same time they are human, and who has ever met a perfectly consistent human being?
Of course, there are those that just claim to be Christian and aren't really.

they aren't trying to bother you or make you feel guilty they call at your house with the best intentions - they wouldn't be telling you that you will go to hell because they don't believe in hell but they are usually nice people and very dedicated.
just politely ask them not call again if it's a problem.

First of all they believe that they will go to heaven only after doing do many good works.
But the Bible says in Ephesians 2 it says "by grace are you saved though faith, it is not of yourselves, it is a gift of God, not by works lest anyman should boast,
Secondly - they say that only 144000 are going to heaven by twisting some kind of scripture. But there are millions of JW's around the world - OOPS!
They deny Jesus as the Son of God, wheras Jesus says "I am the way the truth and the life, No man comes to the Father But by me!"

Honey, they are doing what they believe to be right - don't be too hard on them. At least they have the courage of their convictions. Next time they call, claim to be Roman Catholic. Peace

My sister likes to invite the JWs in, make them tea and chat for a while. This way, it stops them bothering other people. A true good deed.
