Buddha means "Enlightened One". He had attained the ultimate state of awareness. He taught of Buddhas before himself that had attained this state. Nirvana or the ultimate state would correlate with Christ in the Christian teachings. He also never put emphasis on "GOD" because of where it leads the mind intellectually. So many different conceptual gods arise from the fact that God has no name or form or limit of conception or perception.

Well, i'm not a buddhist personally, but i have done some reading on the subject and from what i can gather Buddha is not considered a god, however, a guru might be a more accurate word. After his "enlightenment" he gained deep philisophical knowledge and roamed the earth teaching his beliefs so in a sense he was more of a messenger.

I can't really understand what you're asking, but I'll take a shot at it.
Buddhists are not religious in the sense we are used to. Siddhartha Gautama/Buddha is revered as a teacher. Every Buddhist acknowledges that he died long ago, and has no real presence today. Buddhists do not believe in any higher being. They do not pray to Buddha. Buddha is revered in the same way that we revere the great philosophers of the past.

Neither. Buddhists (as far as I have gathered) pray only to the energy of the Universe, to help relieve the karmic debts of those who ignorantly cause suffering.
Buddhism (at least, the part of it that I know about) is essentially an atheistic religion. The power or inspiration they get is through the collective thoughts and love, etc.
Buddha is revered as an enlightened teacher, not a God.

I gues it all depends on that individual Buddha. They view Buddha as a great teacher, not a God.
