My Credit Report always comes back good, except for that EQUIFAX company! They keep stating that applicant is DECEASED! Crazy. NOT TRUE. Any advise - PLEASE??

This is a link to the Equifax dispute page. http://www.equifax.com/online-credit-dispute/
Log a dispute there and they have to investigate and respond in 30-45 days. It is not a quick fix, but I am not sure there really is one for this.

Just another note, I have heard other people having a similar problem, and the reason they are listed as deceased is when they would get telemarketer phone calls, who ever answered would say the person is dead. NEVER do this, because that will get reported to credit agencies and you will have this type of problem.

Best of luck!

There could be a reason it keeps showing up. Most of the bureaus will run your ssn through the social security death index, so maybe for some reason your ssn is listed there. Check it out: http://www.ancestry.com/search/db.aspx?dbid=3693 . If you discover your name there, you will need to visit your local social security office to straighten the issue out. If you do not find it there, then also contact the social security office with a copy of the "deaceased" credit report in hand. Ask them for a signed letter stating this is your ssn and that you are not deceased. Make certified copies (or see if they will give your 4) and then get online with the 3 major bureaus and find out how to get a "statement" placed on your credit file. This feature allows you a certain number of words or characters to make a statement you want potential creditors to see. Many people use this to explain ID theft issues (do not extend credit to anyone without xxxxx) or questionable credit due to extended illness. Prepare a statement under their guidelines explaining the SSN confusion, that you have placed a certified letter from SSD on file with the bureau. Then, send the certified letter to each of the bureaus, advise them this is the final time they are going to be sent this information and that if you are denied credit one more time for being deceased based on data they provided you will retain an attorney and seek all remedies available to you in compensation.

Wow...these answers!

How come I can't get these sort of problems to happen to me? I sure could use the money.

This is a very simple problem to fix. Send a certified letter/return receipt to Equifax, along with a copy of your SS# card and drivers license. Ask them if they have ever been sued by a dead person?

The job of the credit bureau is to gather information on you. If the information is not accurate, and it causes you harm (loss of credit, higher interest rates), you have grounds to sue them for damages. But for that to happen, you must first notify them and give them the change to correct the problem.

You said this is the 4th time? In my opinion you have a case already. I would see if there is an attorney in your area knowledgeable in the FCRA laws and see if they want to take an easy case.

They need to be contacted and possibly shown proof that you are alive and kicking. Call the company and talk with them about this. I'm sure they have an 800 number and will tell you how this situation can be remedied

If they told me that I took the dirt nap 4 times. I would go out and use credit cards like no tomorrow. :-)

Check to see if they have your ss correct. Maybe there is someone with the same name who just quitted living.

Be careful you only get 9 lives and have already lost 4.

Write to them and tell them you are alive and they need to remove the information.

Write a letter to them. Be forceful. Demand that they fix your record or you will write to your congressman about them, etc.
