My boyfriend is staying in a five-star hotel in Shenzhen, China for three weeks. It's not that I don't trust him, but I've heard the prostitutes can be pretty aggressive. I'm probably just worrying myself for nothing, right?

Shenzhen is a bustling boomtown that borders Hong Kong. The "chickens" there are often young, friendly, and very cute. They are also very inexpensive and plentiful.

He will be under pressure. The best you can do is to tell him that you love him and ask him to just be careful.

There are also pick pockets and other scammers that he should be aware of as well. A money pouch or zippered pocket is a good precaution. I hope he is traveling with a friend or group.

Cheap hotels in China can be quite seedy - but a five-star hotel has its own problems: the hotel bar is likely to be full of prostitutes.

However, I'm not sure what you mean by aggressive. Maybe you're being a bit over-dramatic. They're not going to tie him down and force him use a prostitute! At most, they'll flirt with him and pretend to be interested in him - if he doesn't return the interest, they'll quickly move onto some other man.

Like anywhere in the world, he has to make up his own mind. If you do trust him, then I wouldn't worry. No matter how "aggressive" you may think a prostitute can be, all a guy has to do is say "no thanks", and they quickly move on. There's no point for a prostitute to waste time on a person who doesn't want to be a customer.

No, don't worry about the prostitutes...worry about your boyfriend.

If he loves you, he will avoid any temptation. He'll say no.

Compared to prostitutes in other parts of the World, China's don't seem to go out of their way to snare guys. Now, if your boyfriend was going to Thailand, you would really have to worry.

In some hotels in China, there is something known as "an evening call". The phone will ring in a guest's room some time in the night. A girl will ask if the guest needs anything, like a massage. Usually if the guest doesn't speak Chinese, the message is lost. It's a different kind of room service.

You should warn your boyfriend that if he is invited to have a massage by a chinese person at a local Ammo place, that he
should first check to see what kind of massages they offer. http://www.chinatattler.com

I agree...it's all in your boyfriend and how much you trust him.

Chinese girls are beautiful. They tend to like Western foreigners a LOT. Prostitutes are indeed often cute and very aggressive, and prices are low by Western standards. Prostitution is rampant here in general...and within that context Shenzhen is one of the most notorious of cities for the world's oldest profession.

I agree that 5-star hotels can be AT LEAST as prone to prostitution as any other....the girls are just more discreet. And more expensive.

I wish I could assuage your fears.
But...this is a great country to be a man. ;-{)

Shanghai is really a well-known global metropolis pulling more and more interest from throughout the earth; so see what this city has to offer with hotelbye . Shanghai is a well known journey location for visitors. In Shanghai you can see the striking Yu Garden (Yù Yuán), also called the Garden of Happiness. This Garden addresses a place greater than 20,000 square meters and consists of an external and an internal garden. The oldest part may be the Outer Garden with more improvements being manufactured in the 18th century when Sansui Tang, the park's main corridor, was added. The newer and significantly smaller Inner Garden times from 1709 and involves characteristics typical of a established Chinese writer's Garden: beautiful little pavilions, decorative stones, and little mountain stages, splitting walls and little lakes, and a richly decorated theatrical stage.

Should I worry about Chinese prostitutes?

Whether you worry or not depends on your relationship with your boyfriend. Yes, prostitutes are plentiful in china, and they are agressive. It does not matter if it is a five-star hotel or not. Sometimes they call the room, approach a person in the bar, or approach a person on the sidewalk outside. They usually offer a massage, but it really means sex.

But really, its no different than if your boyfriend were visiting Las Vegas. Do you trust him, or not?

i've always thought the thai bar girls were extremely strong in character. they do what they have to do to help their families (i guess this is the initial reason, then some go on for other reasons). i wonder how many western women would do such things if they had no choice? thailand is an amazing country as are the people, so it would be good if it could be known as a place to visit for much more than the sex tourism (though that said i remember reading that more prostitution is done for the locals and only a small percentage is made from foreigners).

trust and love are two different things, baby.
Better to say: i love him so much and i don't trust him as a man, ppl say man act upon his lower part. I think it is right.

my friend working in Shanghai staying in hotel, it is also five-star, he received a phone call asked if he need sexual service. Remember this is five-star, but well, luckily, the prostitutes didn't come straight to knock his door. Otherwise, my friend may try this service lol.. Some of the hotel allow this prost. to contact with customer, cuz they receive commission.

so your worry is quite reasonable, beware of pro, if they have any disease.

there is nothing u can do, maybe whie yr bf in china, call him frequently. and before he go to china, exhaust his energy....if u know wot i mean. ;)
