You have to remmber all the water you already get from the foods you eat. Drinking too much water can be harmful and cause chemical imbalances in your body. A better measurement of how much water you take in is half your body weight in ounces or at least ten to twelve ounces for every hour you are awake. Do you think 8 glasses a day is enough water is 5 foot tall and somebody who is 7 feet? Sufficient amounts of water are necessary for proper cell function, perspiration, and if you're trying to lose weight it's necessary there as well.

Well 60% of your body is water, or about 80 pounds in a 130lb. person. It also brings ingredients to cells and carries away the end products. It dissolves amino acids, glucose, and minerals. It allows water-soluble protein to travel freely in the blood and lymph. It helps remove nitrogen wastes from protein metabolism -- urine is urea and water. It helps to lubricate joints, the digestive tract, and the respiratory tract -- or any tissues that are moistened with mucus -- and serves as a shock absorber for the eyes, spinal cord, and amniotic sac surrounding the fetus in the womb. Lastly, it aids in maintaining the body's temperature (sweating).

You can get your fluids from juice. It's fine. Anything containing water will do the same thing. Even soup. But if you are thirsty you can't go wrong with a glass of water.

your body uses 8 glasses of water per day just to function properly. just breathing alone uses 2 cups of water. drinking lots of water help wash out toxins etc. its great for your skin for that reason. it also cleans out the fat. for example if you are excersing and dieting to lose weight, drinking a lot of water will help rid your body of that fat. if you are drinking water to lose weight try drinking 3-4 liters instead of 2.
