Neither - just a fact of life - part of nature, just as it is with some other animals. Not a big deal, if you don't make it one.

Having a period is a blessing to me, I look at it as a gift, it is our cycle that continues the wheel turning, a part of the continuation of our descendants, also a symbol that represents the four stages in our life, child - without, maiden - beginning, mother -continuing and at the end - crone - without. I had a friend who married an american indian, and the interesting thing is in this particular tribe, when a woman had her cycle, she was considered a source of power; where women are revered for their ability to bleed and to give birth; where they are honored for their ability to give life and are looked at as a representative of the Godess. I am Pagan

I'm a Christian, and while it's annoying... lol I think ultimately it's a blessing because it represents fertility and a continuance of humanity.
I'll be glad when my fertile days are done though!! LOL so I don't have to worry about it. I brought 3 kids into the world... I kinda think after you have your kids.. it should just stop automatically LOL.. fat chance huh?
Have a great Sunday! =)
***And for the record the bible does NOT say it's a curse anywhere... what it DOES say is that "with pain you will bring forth children"... in other words child birth is painful.. but you can always get an epidural now if you want, so that solves that! I didn't but many do.

Depends on how bad the cramps are... ;)
In general, I don't consider it either a curse or a blessing - it simply "is what it is." When I'm feeling philosophical I marvel the biology that goes into being able to reproduce - something that human science still hasn't managed to replicate - but in general it's just "part of being a woman"...
The comments that the pain of childbirth is the result of Eve makes me wonder - what did dogs and horses and other animals do to p*ss God off so bad that THEY also have labor pains? It's not just humans...

Hmm. Interesting that some of my Christian sisters feel that the period is a curse, when what God said to Eve was "I will greatly multiply your pain in childbirth, in pain you will bring forth children". Compared to that pain, cramps and the monthly mess are merely annoying.
I think if someone considers it a curse, they are showing contempt for their own fertility as this is a constant reminder of it. And the ability to bring forth life is most certainly a blessing.
That said ... I have had no periods for two years now, having allowed my body to take its natural course in aging (no hysterectomy, and no hormones). I don't miss having one and consider its absence a reward for having raised my children!

I haven't had a period in many years, but when I did, I considered it a minor nuisance, no more. I did get cramps when I was younger, but they gradually got less significant by the time I was in my 30s.
If I was young and unmarried, I suppose I'd consider it a blessing, because it would mean I was not pregnant. If married, a disappointment for the same reason.

Blessing, by having my period I know I'm fertile and my husband & I can have children when we're ready. I suffer from extremely painful cramps & illness sometimes, but I wouldn't give it up for anything. All those new fad pills to limit periods are a bad idea. I'm a polytheist btw.

I can't say that I've ever considered it to be either, but will say that the better I make my attitude towards it, and the sacred feminine in us all (not easy - most of us are taught to damn the sacred feminine) the weaker my PMS symptoms are.
And I don't have a religion, I'm a free agent, if you will.

Its not a curse to me. Well maybe it was when I was 12 but after 19 years of having one I've pretty much gotten used to it and now its just part of being me. I consider it part of being a fertile female.
I have no religion, I have my own set of morals and beliefs.

Neither. Its just annoying. But it does let me know that I'm not pregnant which I find to be a good thing.
Ok... you want to know which religion I am? I'm an Atheistic Wiccan. Means I think the gods are crap but I love nature. I rarely ever "think with my religion" like many Christians do.

I am also Pagan. My way of looking at it is different. I see it as a curse because the bloating, mood swings, cramping, pimples and bleeding are so bad. I have PMDD which is worse than PMS.
