My regular vet isn't open on Sunday. But yesterday my mother stepped on my dogs leg in the middle of the night by accident and this morning he was limping. He doesn't seem to be in any pain but he won't put his leg down at all. It's his hind leg and he's just using 3 when walking . Should I wait to take him to my regular vet or should i take him to someone who's open today.

If he doesn't yelp or nip when you touch the area on his leg that is hurt, it can probably wait for tomorrow.

My dog has strained/sprained his leg a couple of times in his life, and our vet just has us keep him as quiet as possible: no jumping, no stairs, only going out to go to the bathroom and then right back in, etc.

If he does start yelping/howling/crying then take him to a vet now (even if it's an emergency clinic) otherwise, call your vet first thing in the morning.

I know someone who is going to court because they waited until Tuesday when there vet was opened and now she is being charged with cruelty for not taking the dog to the vets immediately if she's found guelty she can end up witha $2500 fine and poss a year in jail.
so I think it is best to get teh dog to the vets.
If the dog isn't putting the leg down it is in to much pain to do so so go today.

If he doesn't seem to be in much pain, I'd take him to his regular vet first thing in the morning - but that's because I don't much care for emergency vet clinics. What you can do for him today is keep him quiet, and if you can find the sore spot on his leg - it's likely warmer, or he'll flinch when you run your hand over it - you can ice his leg. Wrap an ice pack in a towel and ice his leg for about 15 minutes at a time. Do it 2 or 3 times today. then take him in tomorrow. If he gets worse pain wise, then it would be better to take him in today.

Petsmart's vet is open until like 5pm but they're extra expensive as h***. He needs to go to the vet first thing in the morning if not today but it is not a life or death situation.

well it doesn't sound to serious he could have just got a sprain and if thats the case then all they will do is bandage it up and send him or her home but if its broken thats a lil more serious ..
question if your mom stepped on his foot did you check if his nails broke at all or if theres and cuts at all bec that could be causing pain but if thats not the case then if your scared it might be something serious take him in to the vet you never know it could be serious
but trust me try not to take to much of the answers that are on here just trust you instincts

I honestly have had this difficulty with previous canines additionally. What i replaced into informed the 1st time it got here approximately replaced into to withhold all food and if it persevered to hold him wherein I did. do not provide your buddy any over-the-counter stuff till you verify which incorporate your vet, each and every canines if distinctive and motives ought to be basic, yet why take a gamble? i understand vet.s are high priced, heck if I had each and every of the dollars I honestly have spent on the vet.s i ought to shield each and every undesirable animal in our state, nicely in simple terms approximately. reliable success
